Have you ever been mistreated, lied to, or taken advantage of? Have you ever hurt so much emotionally that you just limped through life? You could be one of the walking wounded I've written about. You've been deeply scarred and hurt by cutting remarks, haunting memories or deep wounds of rejection. And now you are saying, "Okay, here I am. I'm wounded, but what can I do?"
Years ago, Rev. C. Galea was assigned to the Guelph Correctional Center for his summer work. While there, he developed an excellent rapport with many of the young people who were incarcerated. He asked the boys for clues as to why they had ended up in that institution. He then asked them to draw up a code for parents, zeroing in on specific areas where they had failed.
Almost everyone I counsel asks, "Why should I forgive that person? He wronged me." Or, "I want to forgive, but I can't." Everyone is faced with this same feeling: "Should I or shouldn't I?" The human part of us screams, "He hurt me! He made fun of me! He wronged me! Boy, I'll get even with him." But God never allows His children the painful luxury of getting even.
After starting a new diet, I altered my drive to work to avoid passing my favorite bakery. I accidentally drove by the bakery this morning, and as I approached, there in the window were a host of goodies.
Money is an issue that can tear a family apart. It is a volatile subject that must be approached and dealt with. Ignoring or refusing to deal with the issues of money can deal a deathblow to a relationship. Before money issues become a driving wedge, determine a course of preventative action. With so many families blending together bringing her money and his money or more likely her debt and his, it is even more important to determine a head of time how the finances will be taken care of.
As 2009 squeezed through the keyhole of time, the challenges and joys of this coming year do as well. Three most oft heard words as this time are "New Year's Resolutions". My personal prayer for the year ahead is for a personal revival in my own life. A.W. Tozer, a 20th century prophet of righteousness and revival recommended the following formula for personal revival. I feel it deeply worth sharing…
I last wrote to you from Grantsville, Maryland, where we had a service with Pastor John and Leona Munley. Talk about an energy-packed ministry couple with an earth-shaking testimony! We had a wonderful service and a sweet altar call. I refer to it as "sweet" because when God moves people to repentance, there is a sweet aroma of God's presence that is so special.
Greetings from the beautiful state of Maryland! I love Easter for two main reasons : 1. Christ rose triumphantly over death and the grave! 2. It was in the Easter season that both Larry and I gave our hearts to Christ. I'm celebrating 57 years since I walked up to the altar in Sisseton, SD , prayed and asked Jesus to forgive me of any sins in my life and invited Him to come in and live in me. Wow! That's exactly what He did, and has done since I was 8 years old. After I prayed, I remembered thinking, "I want to work for Jesus." You see I was inspired by Rev. Don Waggoner and his family who pastored the small Gospel Tabernacle.
All aboard! We are all packed up in the motor home en route to Washington D.C. area. We were anxious to hit the road again. We will have services next Sunday in Woodbridge, VA which is only a hop-skip- and a jump…25 miles from the nation's capital. We've had a wonderful 2 months in Florida. God opened up so many doors of personal ministry to so many who needed encouragement. With the crisis America is going through, everyone needs encouragement…including us.
Greetings! What an action-packed two weeks we've had. On Feb 28th, Larry and I flew from Orlando, FL to Houston, TX. We were picked up at the airport by Pastor Richard Amador. Talk about Texas hospitality, he and his beautiful wife, Joyce were wonderful examples of it. They took us to an authentic Mexican restaurant - talk about delicious…and a good heartburn too -Ha! Pastor Richard and his wife are so filled with zeal and excitement to win the lost. On Sunday morning we ministered at Son Harvest Church in Crosby, TX where he pastors.
