Is it just me, or is snow falling where it shouldn't be? We saw snow when we were in Hawaii, and now, check out this photo of the conditions in Arizona! It is beautiful, but very unusual. Arizona had been in a severe drought until this past weekend-they had not had rain for more than 140 days. Many, many prayers have been sent up, asking for rain. Last weekend, God sent wonderful showers to this parched desert land. Not only did several inches of rain fall, but some snow fell as well! Over one inch of snow was recorded at the Phoenix airport. The higher altitudes of the mountains surrounding Phoenix received a lovely blanket of snow, and Flagstaff, Arizona recorded 28 inches of the white stuff! They are now opening their ski resort-it has never before been opened this late in the season. The tourists looking to ski are ecstatic!
Some parents even took their children out of school in droves, loaded them up, and took them up to the mountains just to play in the snow. Many of these children had never seen snow in their lifetimes! The newspaper was filled with photos of children sledding and making snowmen. One man went up the mountain and built a huge snowman on the bed of his pickup, and then drove it back to Phoenix to show it off! The temperatures dropped down to 38 degrees where we were parked (Apache Junction). It was very unusual for the Phoenix area to have such low temperatures and snowfall. The mountains are absolutely breathtaking with all the new-fallen snow on them. I am sure, though, that it will melt quickly, as the mercury has already crawled back up into the 70s.
We had a wonderful weekend of ministry at Celebration Christian Center in Mesa, Arizona. Pastor Randy Visconti shepherds this fast-growing church. There were dozens of friends from all over the United States and Canada in attendance-we had met them during our various travels through the years. It was a joy to have my four older brothers, their wives, and our mom attend that morning service at Celebration. What a special treat!
God blessed us with a wonderful altar call, with many folks making decisions for Christ. After the service, one mother rejoiced, "I have been praying for my teenage son to receive Christ for years. This morning, he finally answered the Lord's invitation! Thanks for coming. It was truly God's timing."
Last night, Larry and I were buying groceries at the nearby Walmart SuperCenter. We were in the checkout line alongside a mother and her seven-year-old daughter. The little girl exploded, "Mom! Those are the missionaries that were in our church last Sunday!" The mother gasped, "Why yes, it sure is!" They walked over to us, and the little girl piped up, "I really liked you when you came to our church." A little embarrassed, the mother said, "I am sorry I didn't recognize you, Gloria. I do recognize Larry now that I see him." I answered, "Yeah, I can hide, but everybody remembers Larry. Ha!" The mother said, "Brother Larry, what was that joke about the computer? I wanted to tell it to my husband, but I forgot the punch line." He told her the joke, and she laughed, "That's it! Now I have to remember it until I get home, so I can tell him." I chuckled, "Sure! You won't remember the sermon-you'll just remember Larry's crazy jokes!" We all left the
store laughing.
Everybody wants to be happy. Life is filled with so much pain, trial, and stress, that people are longing for moments to lighten up. We just want our days to be brighter! That is what Larry and I try to accomplish in our services. It is our quest to help bring joy, laughter, and encouragement, and then present a simple Gospel message to bring people to Christ. It works!
Doctors have discovered that laughter is life and health to the body, and especially to the liver! That is an important organ in the body. Visiting Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota two years ago, I went up to the library. There was an entire area filled with books, cartoons, and videos, all relating to humor and comedy. I commented to the staff worker how impressive this was. She said that they encourage those with cancer, heart problems, nervous breakdowns, depression, and terminal illness to go spend time in that area of the library and watch the old classic videos such as the Three Stooges, I Love Lucy, Red Skelton, and so on. Comedy makes the patients laugh, and that laughter is healing to the body!
The Bible tells us that same thing in Proverbs 17:22. "A merry heart does good, like medicine..." (NKJV) It is true that the joy of the Lord can lift us up when we are sick and discouraged. The joy of the Lord is help for our minds, bodies, souls and spirits. Joy is to our bodies like oil is to a machine; it keeps it running well. Thank God that if we choose His joy, our days will go much more smoothly. It is my prayer, that this coming week, you will experience that joy which Christ freely gives to all of us. Have a great week!

Testimonies
Dear Larry and Gloria,
Brent and I are so happy that you came back to Sierra Vista for services. My family and I have attended every service you have given here for the last six to eight years. You have made such an impact on our lives! My husband Brent and I got married two-and-a-half years ago, and it is our heart's desire and dream to be in ministry like you and Larry are. When you minister, we can see the love you have in each other. You two are great role models for newlyweds like us. Also, your strong commitment to marriage is a testimony and encouragement to everyone. Thanks again!

Dear Larry and Gloria,
We sure enjoy your weekly web site update. This last week, I read it to my mom to encourage her, as she has cancer of the bladder and kidney. Please pray for her. She is 85 years old, and praise the Lord, she knows Christ! We pray for you two. God bless you and your family.

Apple Dip
1 (8 oz) pkg cream cheese
1/4 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar

Mix ingredients together. Heat just until blended (you may do so in microwave if you wish). Be careful, this will scorch easily. Slice apples and use as dip, or pour over a bowl of sliced apples and sprinkle with chopped peanuts.
