Greetings from Sisseton! My, was it ever good to see my home after being gone for four months. We ministered in Hawaii, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas.  On our way through Nebraska we were able to stop and see our long-time, dear friends, MarvinUs with Marvin and Mary Arehart and Mary Arehart.

On April 24th we arrived in Wagner, South Dakota. We pulled in just before sunset. The birds were singing, the sun was shining and it was a beautiful 73 degrees outside. Spring had sprung in the great state of South Dakota! We had traveled about 350 miles that day and I was suffering from "seat-itis". I desperately needed to get up and walk, so I pleaded, "Honey, let's go. There's a park over there by that pond; let's go for a quick evening walk." It was one of those breathtaking evenings and we enjoyed a moment while the ducks and geese were playing in the pond. I looked to the south and noticed the sky was getting dark...in a hurry. In a little bit of a panic, I said, "Larry we better hurry over to the church so you can get the motor home plugged in before that storm hits." We rushed back over to motor home, parked at the Wagner Community church. The dark cloud and wall of rain was approaching more quickly than we had expected. Larry was in a hurry, trying to get everything plugged in, when "WHOOSH" a wall of rain coupled with 35 mile-per-hour gusts of wind hit leaving us with zero visibility. One second I could see Larry in the mirror, and the next second I couldn't see him at all! At first I panicked wondering if a gust of wind or tornado took him - but then I remembered it would have to be a HUGE gust of wind to lift 240 pounds...plus what he had just eaten at dinner...to airlift him - HA! I hollered out the window and he didn't answer. Just then, he threw the door open and jumped in the motor home. I was relieved to see that he was okay, but after one look at him I went into a fit of laughter! He looked like he had just been retrieved from falling overboard into a lake. Water was running off him like out of a faucet. It was so funny because it was him and not me - HA!

In snow...up to our necks - HA!Little did we know that was just the beginning. For the next nearly 40 hours, the temp dropped from 73 to 27 degrees and it turned into an old-fashioned, nasty snow blizzard.. We nestled in the motor home all day Friday and waited for the storm to pass. Unfortunately, we had to cancel our Friday night service as there was no travel advised, because of the blowing and drifting snow creating zero visibility. On Saturday, April 26t,h the sun came out and the snow started to melt allowing us to have our Fun and Laughter Marriage Seminar at the Wagner Community church. We had a great evening of sharing with couples about what makes us "tick or ticked" and ended with a session on forgiveness. God did a wonderful work of healing in the lives of the couples who were able to attend.

What a privilege and joy it was to be back with Pastor Glenn and Selby Hofer. They are so sweet. Their hearts beat for the lost and hurting. Several months ago when Pastor Hofer called us and invited Altar call at Wagner Community Churchus to minister, he said, "I believe in your ministry. Every time you and Gloria have come to minister many have come to Christ for the first time, and gotten plugged right into our church as members. We love your soul-winning emphasis." Sunday morning was no exception. Again, when the altar call was given many responded to make decisions for Christ. Praise God!

Rev. Glenn and Selby Hofer

"We were truly blessed to have Larry & Gloria with us at Wagner Community Church last week-end. We want to say thank you to them for their ministry to our church family. Hearts were touched as they shared at the Marriage Enrichment Seminar on Saturday evening, and on Sunday morning and evening we were blessed by their music and as Larry shared from the Word. There were seven 1st time commitments, and four who re-dedicated their lives.  We pray God's blessing on this special couple as they continue to share the good news of the gospel."

 - Pastor Glenn & Selby Hofer

Scott from Wagner Community ChurchIt was a personal encouragement to see Scott, who gave his heart to Christ a couple years ago in our service, and his wife who came to Christ one year ago in a service, actively involved in the church. Every Sunday, Scott does a one-man illustrated sermon or drama as to whatever Pastor is going to preach about. It's great! It thrills Larry and I to see people get saved, walk right into the church, and get actively involved. Scott owns Boom's Family Restaurant in Wagner, SD.

We had a precious service on Sunday night. Larry preached on "The Worth of a Family." We completed the service praying for families and God's blessing on them..

Lewellyn and Wanda Larson

Immediately following the Sunday night service, we sped off to Kiron, IA where we attended the funeral of our dear friend and partner, Lewellyn Larson. When he passed away he was one hour away from turning 81 years old (going on 65!). Lewellyn and his precious wife, Wanda, have joined us on almost every Fun and Fellowship tour we've taken in the past. Everyone loved Lewellyn, his sense of humor, and love that was evident for people.

When I was 8 years old, my pastor, Rev. B.C. Heinze, told me something I'll never forget, "Gloria, the longer you live...the more loved ones you have on the other side." How true. Times like this encourage us to love those we have right now as life is uncertain and fragile.

Last Thursday, May 1st was Mayday. I sneaked out of the house, drove down to the Dairy Queen where I ordered a small Heath Blizzard, put it in a gift bag and raced back to the house. I knocked on the front door and Larry came down to answer it - there I My Larry with his Maybasketstood holding up the gift bag. I announced, "Happy Mayday!" as I set the gift bag by his feet. He picked it up, peeked in, saw the blizzard (he hadn't had one in months due to his "food cop" -me), he grinned that look of "oh yea!" I interrupted his thought by motioning to him and exclaiming, "Hey it's Mayday- you have to chase me and give me a kiss! Come on, let's go!" I turned around and began to walk quickly down the sidewalk and driveway... there was Larry trailing me in stocking feet and gaining ground like a speeding bullet. He grabbed me, swung me around, hugged me and plopped a big kiss on my lips. We both laughed and laughed. Just then a car drove by. Having witnessed the chase and the embrace and I'm sure they thought, "Aren't they too old for all of that?" NEVER...

The 13th chapter of 1 Corinthians is called the Love Chapter. Read it and be refreshed. In essence, for me, it says that if I, Gloria Lundstrom, travel, speak, sing, write articles and books and I don't love my husband I am nothing more than what verse one says - a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. My true love for God will show forth in my love for my husband, children and grandchildren - and as it reaches out to all those around me. Verse 13 says, "But now abide faith hope and love - these three; but the greatest of these is love."

Let's love while we can - someone and everyone needs it.

Gloria

Things My Mother Taught Me

I learned many valuable things from my mother. Here are a few of them:

~Quit doing that with your face; it could stick that way.

~Don't run with those scissors; you could put your eye out.

~Look both ways before crossing the street.

~Eat your vegetables; they're good for you.

~Finish your food; there are millions of people starving overseas.

(A tip: it is not a good thing to reply, "Name one.")

~Don't cry wolf; people won't believe you when it's real.

~Shut the door; you weren't born in the barn.

~And don't slam it.

More importantly, I learned many things by observing her life. Here are some of them:

~People are important.

~People going through trials need encouragement.

~Letting people know you're praying for them and thinking of them is deeply meaningful to them.

Greetings from the road! Needless to say, this last week has been a whirlwind. The last time you heard from us we were in Albuquerque, New Mexico. On Wednesday, April 9th, we received a phone call from my brother, Glen, informing us that his wife, Marvelyn, went home to be with the Lord after a courageous 12 year battle with breast cancer. It was bittersweet news. We are so happy she doesn't have to suffer anymore, but at the same time our hearts are heavy for my brother Glen, his children and their wives, and the 9 precious grandchildren who love their Nana so much. Ultimately, we are so thrilled to know that Marvelyn is walking the streets of gold in Heaven.

That evening, we held a Wednesday night service in Albuquerque at Trinity Family Rev. and Mrs. BarnardChurch with Rev. and Mrs. Jerry Barnard. What a warm, loving couple! They were so gracious and kind to us. They shared this about the rally:

"We had very good services with Larry and Gloria. Our church was blessed by their ministry."

Marvelyn's funeral was to be held in Sisseton, South Dakota so we quickly made plans to fly back home. Pastor and Mrs. Barnard were so thoughtful to take us to the airport and allow us to leave our motor home at their church. We flew into Minneapolis, Minnesota on Friday evening and were informed that old man winter had given one more "huff and puff"dropping 14 inches of snow in South Dakota. That delayed our drive home to Sisseton until Saturday. Our daughter, LaDawn, and two grandchildren, Dante' and Myanna, came back with us to attend the funeral.

A couple days later we scurried back to Minneapolis, caught our flight back to Albuquerque, New Mexico, got back to our motor home and headed off to our next rally in Canadian, Texas.

We arrived in Canadian on Friday evening, April 18th. It was fun being back there again as Larry and I were there in 1966, just four months Dave's special steaksafter we were married. Of course, lots of memories flooded our minds.

Mmmmm, steak!

On Saturday afternoon, two couples that we had met in the 1960s, David Young, his brother Lee and their wives prepared us a Texas steak dinner on the grill. When we met the Young's in 1966, they had us out to their ranch for steaks. Their steaksLee & Genise Young were so good waaaay back then and this time they were just as delicious, along with those Southern Texas beans. Of course...Larry loves steak! It's always a joy to renew friendships. We hadn't seen the Young's since 1988.

David & Pat Young

"We absolutely enjoyed the fellowship that we had with Larry and Gloria. It has been twenty years since we have seen them in Canadian, but it took just moments to reconnect. Larry and Gloria are such a blessing wherever they go. We had a great service Sunday morning with almost 15 people receiving the gift of salvation. We just love them and their ministry!!!"   -David & Pat Young

Rev. Justin and Jessica ColemanIn Canadian, we were greeted by Pastor Justin Coleman, his beautiful wife Jessica, and their two dear children.  On Sunday morning we had a wonderful worship service and there were several decisions made for Christ. That's always so thrilling for us. Pastor Justin and Jessica are such a sweet and inspiring young couple. They exude the gift of southern hospitality.

"What a wonderful example of a Godly couple with relevant musix and a fresh Word! Thanks for a salvation message and your passion to represent Jesus in every service." - Rev. Justin Coleman

After the morning service on Sunday a lady, about 40 years old came up to me and chuckled, "Gloria, you guys don't change! You looked ancient when you were here in Canadian when I was about 7 or 8 years old." I joked, "Thanks...if we were ancient way back then, what Canadian, TX altar callare we now?" She blushed and said, "What I meant was, you don't look any different now than you did way back then..." I quickly interrupted, "Oh please, don't say anymore, it's just getting worse!" We both had a good laugh!

Isn't it great that we can laugh? Laughter is a gift from God and when it is allowed to occur, it relieves us from the weight of stress, pain and disappointment. God created joy knowing it was medicine to the body and soul. Proverbs 17:22 says, "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine." A happy heart and countenance gives us strength and carries us through the valleys and trials of life. Nehemiah 8:10 reads, "The joy of the Lord is our strength." I don't know about you, but believe me...I need all the strength and joy of the Lord I can get to carry me through this life. How about you?

From Canadian, Texas we headed across country into Kansas. The wind was kicking up, trying to toss us to-and-fro on the highway. During one stop, I stepped out the front door of the motor home and the wind pulled me and the door right outside! I felt like Dorothy in the story of The Wizard of Oz. Except...with all my body weight - especially since all the great Southern cookin' - I know the wind couldn't lift me off the ground! I'm firmly packed! HA!

Well, we are inching our way home to South Dakota. It will be good to see home again! Talk to you in a couple weeks!

We were driving along a rural road and I said, "Larry, stop, you have to see this!" We pulled over and looked up in a tall tree. We stared at a bird nest that was made out of... whatever it all was! It looked like Easter basket grass with green and red tape from something - somewhere! The nest had to be at least 25 feet in the tree, but very visible from the road. Questions flooded my mind like, "Was that bird naive, careless, foolish...? There was grass, twigs and leaves everywhere you look. Maybe this bird made that nest just for my entertainment. What's your thoughts- HA!

The ugly bus

A bus that carries only ugly people crashes into an oncoming truck, and everyone inside dies. They then get to meet their maker; and because of the grief they have experienced, He decided to grant them one wish before they enter Paradise.

They're all lined up, and God asked the first person what her wish is.

"I want to be gorgeous", she says. And so God snaps His fingers, and it is done.

The second on in line hears this and says, "I want to be gorgeous, too." Another snap of His fingers and the wish is granted.

This goes on for awhile, with each one asking to be gorgeous; but when God is half way down the line, the last guy in line starts laughing. When there are only 10 people left, this guy is rolling on the floor, laughing his head off.

Finally, God reaches this last guy and asked him what his wish will be. The guy eventually calms down enough and says; "Make em all ugly again."

Days filled with sunshine come into our lives and Christ shines through us. I find it easy to shine when all is going well, but the true test of my testimony is when the dark shadows of disappointment, trials and unexpected valleys come. During the times when it seems all hope is fading and satan tempts us to question whether God knows or even cares what we are going through; it is in those moments, I realize the world is looking to see how we handle it. Just as the red rocks of Arizona shone their beauty even through the dark shadows that overtook them, it is my prayer that in my life, Jesus will shine through me. I pray that those who are hurting will discover hope in observing how God brings us through our valleys, ultimately, giving them the assurance that they, too, can make it through.

Children at Gallup, NM

Last Saturday, we inched our way up through the mountains to Flagstaff, AZ and then on into the state of New Mexico. The gusting winds of 35 mph were pushing us along helping our fuel mileage, but making the trip a bit challenging.

We arrived in Gallup, NM, which is located in Navajo country, on Saturday afternoon just in time to set up for Sunday's service at Gallup First Assembly of God. It was exciting to be back in Gallup with Pastor David Rev. Dave and Faye ToppenToppen and his wife, Faye. We met Pastor Toppen and his family when they pastored in Pierre, SD, years ago. We were, again, greeted by his loving congregation who consist of mainly Navajo. My how they love the Lord and love to worship!

When the altar call was given, the front of the church was packed with couples, singles and teens making decisions for Christ.

Pastor Toppen and his wife shared,

"We recently had Larry and Gloria Lundstrom for a Sunday morning evangelistic service. We've
Gallup, NM altar call
had them come several times over the years. We know what to expect when they come:  People are going to laugh, and people are going to get saved. It's Like Larry puts it, they're an 'altar call with a song'. We had seventeen people respond to Larry's invitation to receive Christ as Savior. Awesome!"

Victor & Marilyn Benally with their family

Marilyn Benally, a young mother, just bubbled as she walked up to me. Her eyes danced with excitement as she exclaimed,

"I remember you from listening to the Lundstrom's on radio every Saturday morning when I was 9-10 years old. That was close to 30 years ago! I loved your music so much, I ordered a record of yours. Needless to say, I was so excited to hear that some of the Lundstrom's were coming to our church. We loved the service and I was so happy to finally meet you in person. Because of Jesus, we will be friends forever."

Geri Easton, one of the counselors for the service, told me, "I was thrilled to be a counselor.Geri Easton I felt I have been lazy and not doing what God has called me to do. I have been praying and asking God to help me get involved in touching lives. I am going to be coordinating the effort to follow up on all those that responded to the altar call. It was exhilerating to see all of those people make decisions for Christ."

Mary BuntanbachMary Buntanbach, a former missionary on a Navajo Reservation and who continues to be very active in ministry said, "Gloria, your ministry was so uplifting and inspirational. I loved the focus on souls and family."

Pete and Vicky Foster

Another couple shared, "We loved the ministry. We were in Gallup visiting my sister, the pastor's wife, Faye Toppen. We look forward to having you come to Michigan to minister."  - Pete & Vicky Foster

All of those comments were such great encouragements to us. As you are receiving this e-mail, we are heading off for Santa Rosa, New Mexico, for Sunday services. Before I sign off however, I must tell you this...Larry knows how much I love flowers, and he is so thoughtful to surprise me every now and then with a plant or some fresh flowers. Anyway, last week I mentioned to him that I was getting spring fever and how much I loved seeing the first flowers of spring such as daffodils, tulips, etc. A few hours later he went to pick up a few groceries. He returned and then presented me with a beautiful blue and cream hydrangea plant. Of course, he deserved an extra hug and kiss for that! I immediately watered it as instructed. About 14 hours later, when we awoke the next morning, I went to admire my "Pride and Joy", but I was appalled to see my plant looked like someone had put a torch to it. It was completely drooped and it appeared to be dead.

I gasped, "Larry, my plant...ohhh...my plant! Look, it's dead! What happened to it?" To which he smartly quizzed, "Did you water it?" Answering a bit sarcastically, I said, "I'm not that dumb...of course, I watered it!"

I first thought I should return the plant before we left town. Then my second thought was to try to revive it by watering it again. The only thing worse that could happen is it would be dead and water-logged. I chose the latter option. I soaked it, set it on the table and went about with my office tasks for the day. About an hour later, I glanced over to observe my dead plant and to my complete surprise it was in full bloom and looked perfectly healthy and beautiful. Proudly, I showed it to Larry. I picked up the little instruction card and read it again. It said, "When watering, drench thoroughly." AHA! That was the key! Don't let it dry up, keep it moist.

I told Larry, "Aren't our lives just like that plant? If we fail to keep it watered with the Word of God and prayer, we can dry up just as quickly as that plant did. Psalm 63:1, 2 says, "O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee; my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; to see thy power and thy glory..." I love that God uses every day life to teach us so many spiritual lessons.

Well, it's time to sign off once again. May you have a blessed week knowing that you are special and that God loves you!

Gloria

P.S. I wanted to thank you for the many prayers that you, as our family, have offered to the Lord on my sister-in-law, Marvelyn's, behalf. She recently went to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ. This is an excerpt from her caringbridge journal that was posted by her family to let people know of her new home. We thought we would share it with you. We ask that you continue to keep the family in your prayers as they walk through this next phase of their journey.

"Can you hear the angels and witnesses rejoicing in heaven? There is a celebration underway and mom is freely dancing Glen and Marvelynagain and her beautiful smile is radiating throughout the golden city! We can't imagine how it felt as she experienced the warm embrace of her precious heavenly Father, nor the welcome she received as she entered the gates of heaven.

No words can depict our pain, yet we are doing our best to be "selfless" in the way she has so graciously always been...and be thrilled for her. Her life of pain and suffering has come to an end.

Our time together last night was incredibly hard, yet Dad led us through with great dignity and love. He spent time praising the Lord for the life we had with her, then released her first to Him...and then with all the strength within him told his "girl" she was free to run into His arms. Please pray for strength for dad...he hasn't left her side during this 12 year battle with cancer. He was the perfect life-mate...carrying her through. The loss he is faced with must be so overwhelming...yet all he cares about is making sure us kids are okay.

As this journey comes to an end, we thank you for standing in the gap for all of us. Your unwavering faith and support made all the difference.

We are her legacy...and we will make her proud. We love you all...."

We will miss the beautiful Arizona sunshine, the breathtaking sunsets, and the delicious fresh oranges, lemons and grapes that have been given to us straight from the trees/vines by friends and family. Larry has definitely received his daily dose of Vitamin C the last few months. We will miss seeing the Saquaro cactus, a trademark of Arizona, along with the beautiful palm trees that are scattered about.

We are leaving it all behind, but what we are taking with us are the memories of the unforgettable church services, the hundreds of new friends we have made and the joy of getting reacquainted with all of the friends we Arizona sunsethave met in years past that have been wintering in Arizona. Most of all, we take with us the fragrance of the glorious altar calls, remembering those who made decisions for Christ. Altar calls never become mundane or grow old for us. Every time we see someone come to Christ, it is like a life-giving transfusion to our body, soul and spirit.

On Sunday, March 16, we were back in Fountain Hills, AZ, to minister with pastor andAltar call at Foothills Christian Center friend, David Iverson. He's always so kind and gracious as is the congregation he is pastoring. We were greeted with such great hospitality and open arms. The altar call was precious and it is exciting to see what God is doing at Fountain Hills Christian Center.

Rev. David Iverson

Pastor Iverson shared the following regarding our time there:

"Larry and Gloria, thank you for another great service. Your heart and ministry is so appreciated! The songs and message are both comforting and challenging. May God give you strength and finances to continue. Praise the Lord for the first time salvations. I told the congregation the previous Sunday that 'If they would get the unsaved to the service, that their chances of getting saved would be very good!' Fortunately, some listened!"

Us with Rev. Bill and Linda Lowder

On Easter Sunday morning, we were at Foothills Assembly of God with Pastor Bill and Linda Lowder in Apache Junction, AZ. We were thrilled to have two of my brothers, Jack and Larry, along with their wives, Angie and Terry, and my precious mother come to the morning service. Family is always special!

My mom and dad, Clair and Julie Brooks, started wintering in Arizona in the late 70's. They began attending Pastor Lowder's church and as our family began to migrate to Arizona during the winter months for vacations and extended stays; Pastor Bill and Linda Lowder became their Arizona pastors. They have been Family in Arizonaso faithful to walk with us through many trials and valley experiences. They have been such a blessing and encouragement to our family. Thanks, Pastor Bill and Linda.

Arvin & Verla Smith

It was nice to see our partners and friends, Arvin and Verla Smith recently in Glendale, AZ. Arvin and Verla live in Washington. Arvin was so kind to help Larry with some miscellaneous projects on the motorhome. Verla is actually from our hometown of Sisseton, SD.

A couple days ago, I was walking up the sidewalk to my mom's house. As I looked down, my attention was caught by a most unique picture. Growing out of a crack in the sidewalk, making a statement, was one brilliant orange desert daisy. This daisy brought me to an immediate halt and I leaned over to study it more closely. I motioned for Larry to come and take a look at this one lonely daisy that had pushed its way up into the sunlight against all odds. How beautiful it looked as the late afternoon sun dropped its golden rays on its face. I thought, "Wow! What a lesson for us to learn! No matter how boxed in we may feel by the problems and cares of life, when we feel pressed on all sides like crushing concrete-if we trust God and are determined that we won't allow life to suck our joy and beauty-He will allow our lives to be as beautiful as that brilliant orange daisy."

Pondering that, I am reminded of all our family and friends who have faced pressing challenges in the last weeks or months. In the last "On the Road" update, I shared about my sister-in-law, Marvelyn Brooks, who has so courageously been battling breast cancer. Larry and I, along with my brothers, Larry and Jack, and their wives, Terry and Angie, have had the privilege to have been close to Glen, Marvelyn and the family at the hospital to be a support and to pray with them while here in Arizona. My brother, Glen, and his family remind meGlen & Marvelyn of the desert daisy...no matter how discouraging the situation is with bad reports and seemingly hopeless assessments, their strong faith in God and their love for God absolutely radiates through each one of them. The doctors, nurses and staff of Banner Gateway Medical Center where Marvelyn had been for two weeks said they had never seen an entire family like theirs show so much love, faith and belief for miracles of which God has given them many. Each one of them have been a testimony to everyone they have met. This family has literally trusted and stood on the Word of God and it's promises.

On Easter Sunday, Marvelyn was flown by Medi-Vac to a hospital in Minneapolis, MN, which was a miracle entirely in itself...as they said Marvelyn would never come off life support, would never come out of the hospital, and would never be able to return home. Our God gave them another miracle! She continues to be in the hospital but she is surrounded by her family, children and grandchildren which she so longed for. Isaiah 41:6 says, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."

Aren't you thankful that God is our refuge and strength!

For many of you who are also going through deep valleys, I would also like to leave with you the following scriptures, Isaiah 40:28, 29 & 31, "Hast thou not known? Hast thou not heard, that the Everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the end of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? There is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might He increaseth strength....But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

May God be your strength and joy until we connect again!

Gloria

PS. Here are some comments from our friends, Joseph and Jon, from Faith Assembly of God in Phoenix, AZ. We were at Faith A/G on March 9th. Thanks for your encouragement guys!

"It was absolutely refreshing to be part of your service that focuses specifically on reaching the LostJoseph Kroll and fulfilling the Great Commission. In youth ministry, we often experience services and speakers with plenty of excitement and energy. Not to discredit these experiences, but their focus is usually inspiration for believers. In your service at Faith Assembly in Phoenix, we were thrilled to have 12 youth respond to the salvation message.

Also, two years ago, at your service at our church, my mother and father-in-law were visiting from Montana. Upon hearing your message, they made a total commitment to Christ. They now have recently gone on a 10 day missions trip to India with my wife sharing God's message. Thank you for the part you had in their lives!"

An acquaintance of mine, who is a physician, told the story about her then, 4 year old daughter. On the way to preschool, the doctor had left her stethoscope on the car seat and her little girl picked it up and began playing with it.

"Be still, my heart," thought my friend, "My daughter wants to follow in my footsteps!"

Then the child spoke into the instrument; "Welcome to McDonald's. May I take your order?"

___

A mother was teaching her 3 year old the Lord's Prayer. For several evenings at bedtime, she repeated it after her mother. One night she said she was ready to solo. The mother listened with pride as she carefully enunciated each word, right up to the end of the prayer.

"Lead us not into temptation," she prayed, "But deliver us some e-mail."

RECIPE

Spicy Rice Casserole

1 lb. milk pork sausage                             2 cups boiling water

1 tsp. ground cumin                                 1 or 2 jalapeno peppers, seeded and

½ tsp. garlic powder                                  finely minced

2 med. onions, chopped                         1 (6 1/4 oz.) pkg. long grain and wild rice

2 med. green peppers, chopped         2 beef bouillon cubes

In a large skillet cook sausage, cumin and garlic powder, stirring often. Drain. Add onions and green peppers; saute until crisp-tender. Dissolve bouillon in water; add to skillet. Stir in jalapenos, rice and rice seasoning packet; bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, 5-10 minutes or until the water is absorbed. Makes 4-6 servings.

Altar call at Faith A/G in Phoenix, AZGreetings, again, from Arizona! These past two weeks have whisked by so quickly I can hardly believe it.

We've had wonderful soul-winning rallies in the Phoenix area. We ministered at Faith Assembly of God in Phoenix on Sunday, March 9th.  Pastor Elwin Mack, along with his staff and worship team, were on a missions trip to India.  Pastor Earl and Rose Ostrom, the Seniors pastors, hosted us in their absence. What an energized preacher! He energized us just by being around him. We had a precious Youth at Faith A/Gservice and when the altar call was given many responded. It was exhilarating to see several teenagers make decisions or rededicate their lives to Christ. Several adults of the church also commented how thrilled they were to see the teens go forward, along with all the others. That's a sure sign that it wasn't because of us or our music that those teens came forward - it is certainly not their style of music. It was truly an anointed Word and preaching that touched their hearts.

Earl and Rose Ostrom

"We were blessed so much by your ministry on March 9th, and thoroughly enjoyed lunch with you. We'll be looking forward to the next time we get to see you...whenever that might be!  Blessings to you!"

Brittany Coffey

Brittney Starr Coffey bounced up to me and said, "I remember you from the last time you were here. I had just turned 13 years old, and now I'm 16. My life has not been the same since last time you were here. Larry and Gloria, you left a huge impact on my life. I'm so thankful I met you, Gloria; it's because of your ministry and your book Free at Last that I'm involved in the "Building Champions" children's ministry in my church. I was so happy to be a counselor this time when you came, and I can't wait for you to come back."

It was a great Sunday of ministry. On Tuesday, March 4th Larry and I drove to Tucson, Arizona where we had the privilege to be invited to speak at the Chapel service for the staff of Family Life radio. It was a special time of sharing Live at Family Life radio servicethe Word and spreading encouragement.

Family Life radio beams from coast to coast sharing the gospel through music and syndicated programs.  The facility is beautiful and is definitely on the cutting edge of technology. We were privileged to meet about 30 of their staff, which are all exceptional business men and women who have dedicated their talents, skills and lives to further the gospel through Christian radio.Chapel service for Family Life radio staff

Audrey Blanco, a long time friend of ours, who formerly worked with Women of Virtue and who is now on staff of Family Life radio, along with her brother, Thorville, were instrumental in bringing us to the Tucson area. Audrey chuckled, "I remember being invited to your wedding in 1965 in South Dakota. I was just a little girl and I remember the wedding being so beautiful." Wow- she has a good memory! Thank you Audrey for the great job you are doing promoting Christian radio with Family Life.

Gloria and Audrey Blanco"What a joyful privilege it was to have Larry and Gloria minister recently to our national headquarters staff during our weekly chapel time. Several staff remembered 'the Lundstroms' from years past and were delighted to make a connection again. The words to the songs they sang were uplifting and inspirational, and many were blessed immensely by their testimony. Larry and Gloria encouraged and admonished us to never forget the difference we are making via the airwaves to reach families and individuals for Christ. Larry and Gloria, you are welcome back anytime!"

- Audrey (Moldrem) Blanco, Executive Assistant, Family Life Radio

On Wednesday night, March 5th, we had a church service at Tucson Assembly of God with Rev. Jimmy Munns. What a sweet spirited pastor. It had been some 20 years since we ministered in Tucson. We're looking forward to returning in a couple of years to do a series of rallies.

Here we are...Easter week. It's a joyous week, knowing that Jesus loves us so much that He would die on a cross for our sins and that He rose triumphantly on Easter Sunday so we can live in that victory, here on Earth, and for all eternity with Him.

As you know, it was a long three day journey for Jesus from Friday to Sunday. From an unfair and unjust trial, to the trail by which he was forced to carry His own cross, to the test of questioning His Father, "My Father, why hast Thou forsaken Me...", to coming to terms that this was the will of His Father that He might fulfill the plan of salvation through His death and resurrection. Thank you Jesus for fulfilling that plan!

As all of us know...life is journey. There's hardly a family I've met that is not going through a "Friday to Sunday" experience. The Bible says in Psalm 30:5, "Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning."

For our immediate family, my brother Glen Brooks and his family, continue in a journey of his wife Marvelyn's battle with breast cancer. She and my brother flew out from Minneapolis to Arizona to spend a month with the Brooks family. Though Marvelyn Angie Brooks, Marvelyn Brooks, Julie Brooks, Gloria, and Terry Brookswas very weak, she never complained, but always had a smile and something sweet to say. She is such a testimony to us. A week a ago last Friday, she enjoyed a family birthday party. My brother, Larry Brooks, celebrated his 71st birthday.  She ate, laughed and delighted in the evening with us. The next morning she was rushed to the hospital and within hours was placed on life support. Marvelyn BrooksTheir four children flew out immediately from Minneapolis. The doctors did not give her any hope to come out of this. I don't think I've ever experienced a family so united and who have stood on the Word with a greater faith than this one. They are totally believing that their mother will come off the life support, and be able to see and respond to her husband and family.

Fast-forward to a couple days ago - - we received a phone call that my sister in-law Marvelyn just opened her eyes after being on life support for over a week! She is nodding her head to questions asked by her family. What a miracle and answer to prayer! This is a much anticipated moment. What a testimony to the doctors and nurses who were sure the outcome was bleak! This was an "Easter Sunday" experience for this family. The verse in Romans 8:17 is dancing in my spirit, "For I reckon that the suffering of this present time are not to be compared with the glory that shall be revealed in us." God is definitely revealing Himself in and through this family. Marvelyn is in God's hands. Please continue to pray for her.

May you experience the peace and the joy and the reality of the hope that Easter brings to us with the death and resurrection of God's son, Jesus. Have a blessed Easter!

Be sure to check out our other Easter messages on our website. They are found under the "Victorious Living" tab on the left-hand side of the main page.  There is an article under "Spiritual Development" and "Faithbuilders" that will be sure to spur you on during this time of Rememberance.

Gloria

Greetings from sunny Arizona! I can hardly believe it is March already. The weeks are flying by. We have had two wonderful active weeks here in Phoenix, Arizona.

It was a joy to return to minister at Celebration Church in Mesa, Arizona, with Pastor

Pastor Visconti and family

Randy Visconti. We were with him and his delightful family two years ago. We were ecstatic to see that the church continues to grow under his leadership; he is doing a great job pastoring there.

Pastor Visconti shared the following comments regarding our time at Celebration, "Larry and Gloria Lundstrom were a real blessing. I know our people loved their ministry. It was a thrill to see numerous hands go up at the altar call."

We were welcomed by a loving congregation as well as about 75-100 snowbird friends from all over the United States and Canada. We have met all of these friends somewhere, someplace, and sometime throughout our ministry travels.

The service at Celebration in MesaOne couple grabbed my arm and said, "We remember you from Klamath Falls, OR, in 1968! We can't believe you are STILL on the road after all of these years! We loved your music and ministry way back then, and we loved your music and ministry today as much or more. We were thrilled to see people respond to the altar calls." I assured them that it is the altar calls that keep us going; they are like a blood transfusion to us when we are weary and tired in body. Every morning when Larry and I pray together, we thank God for saving us and for the privilege of being called to represent Him through ministry.

Last Sunday, we returned to Harvest Church in Glendale, Arizona (a suburb of Pastor Ron and Sue RockwellPhoenix) with Pastor Ron and Sue Rockwell. Ron and Sue are special to us as they were youth pastors in our home church in Sisseton, SD, many years ago. Their ministry to the youth made a great impact on those who were teenagers at that time. They are now adults, many of whom are married and have families of their own. Ron and Sue poured into their lives and a great number of them are still serving God making an impact in the marketplace through Altar call at Glendale, AZtheir lives, testimonies, examples and integrity. Thanks, Pastor Ron and Sue!  Pastor Ron and Sue shared the following comments regarding the service:

"We appreciate the ministry of 'soul-winning' that Larry and Gloria bring to our church.  As pastors, there is no greater joy than seeing people make decisions for Christ and to see the altar filled with souls being saved.  Our spirits rejoice today knowing that new believers have been added to the family of God.  We thank you, Larry and Gloria, for remaining true to the commands of Jesus to go into all the world and make disciples.  You are worthy servants of the soul-winners crown.  We love you!"

When Larry gave the altar call on Sunday, many responded, including several Youth pastor Eddy Johnsonteenagers. Pastor Eddy Johnson, the new youth pastor at Harvest Church, was thrilled to see those teens make decisions for Christ, especially as this was his first Sunday there. What a way to begin!

Pastor Eddy shared, "The Lundstroms were great and I was thrilled to see the youth respond!" Pastor Eddy just came from the Dream Center International Church in Las Vegas, NV, where he had been on staff for several years. He's a passionate young Jamaican who is going to lead and challenge the youth through his zeal and passion for God just as he did in Las Vegas.

We are so thankful to Pastor Ron for RV MAPSallowing us to park our motorhome here alongside the RV MAPS couples who are here working on various church projects. It's exhilarating to see all these seniors investing their lives in God's work rather than rusting out in rocking chairs. This coming fall, most of them will return to Glendale once again to begin working on a new sanctuary that will seat over 1,000. Harvest Church's congregation has grown from 25 people to over 400! Praise the Lord! Dennis and Jan Duff

Dennis and Jan Duff, who work with RV MAPS, watched over our motorhome for nearly two months while we were back in the Midwest. I had given Jan our new devotional before we left, entitled "For This Moment". On our return, she grabbed me and said, "Gloria, I just love this book! I laugh, I cry and see God's hand in everything you did along the journey you write about. This book is life that we all face on a daily basis. Thank you for telling us the stories of your life journey as it encourages us to walk by faith and not by sight."

Time lapse...okay, I'm back. Both office phones were ringing, I was knee-high in paperwork and mail as well as trying to work on the monthly newsletter. I got a bit overwhelmed by it all. I announced to Larry, "Honey, I need to take a 20 minute power nap to clear my brain...it's blinking!" I laid down and told myself, "I need to think of something really calm and relaxing to erase my anxieties." For some reason my mind recalled one such time when we were in Maui, Hawaii, for a quick day and a half getaway. The deck of the condo overlooked the Pacific Ocean. As we walked out and gazed at the ocean, I couldn't believe my eyes. There were several gigantic whales coming out of the water, ever so gracefully doing acrobatic flips in the air. It looked identical to the Pacific Life commercial. These airborne whales appeared to be the size of boxcars. We stood there, spellbound, watching this breathtaking event. We were being entertained by playful whales.

As I relived the refreshing scene that has been stamped in my memory, I scolded myself, "Gloria, slow down. Get the weight off your shoulders. Take a break, get out and enjoy a few moments of relaxation. If those mammoth whales can lift themselves out of the ocean and into the air with joy, I certainly should be able to throw this weight off my shoulders for a couple of hours."

Sometimes the weight of your and my responsibilities pull us down physically, emotionally and even spiritually. I know I can certainly be found guilty of that. So, about three hours ago, I said, "Larry, let's take a break and have a date...now...please." We dropped everything and scurried off to the "Sweet Tomato", a soup and salad buffet. We leisurely enjoyed our date and then went for a quick walk in the late afternoon Arizona sun. It was so invigorating! I came back relaxed and ready to tackle the work again.

There are times in our lives we need to "close shop" for a few minutes or hours in order to pull away, take a walk, read or pray. Psalms 46:10 says, "Be still...and know I am God." I don't know about you, but I can't rest, be refreshed or grow closer to God unless I am still.

Ooooo...I am preaching to myself, but I must say... "Good preaching, Gloria!" HA!

Well, be blessed! Have a great week and we will connect again!

Gloria

While on a road trip, an elderly couple stopped in a roadside restaurant for lunch. After finishing their meal, they resumed their trip. Unknowingly the woman had left her glasses on the table and didn't miss them until they had been driving about twenty minutes. By then, adding to the aggravation, they had to travel quite a distance before finding a place to turn around.

On the way back, the husband fussed and complained and scolded his wife. As she got out of the car and hurried inside to retrieve her glasses, he yelled to her, "While you are in there, you might as well get my hat and credit card!"

We had a marvelous month of ministry over there. The decisions for Christ were absolutely thrilling. We met people from literally all over the world. Within minutes we were no longer strangers but friends.

The week before we left was action-packed. On Sunday, February 10th we were happyRev. Chris and Aurora Bartolome to be back with Pastor Chris and Aurora Bartolome at Bethel Chapel Assembly of God in Waipahu, HI. We've ministered there several times and it was a joy to see friends we've met through the years, and many new ones as well. Pastor Chris has mentored Altar call at Bethel Chapelmany who are now in ministry and he's very active in oversees missions.

Altar call at Bethel ChapelIt was so touching to see the young and old step forward at the two morning altar calls to receive Christ, or to recommit their lives to Christ.

The Monday following the service, our friends, Tim and Evelyn DeGracia, and Leanor Leanor TuazonTuazon who were responsible for bringing us over to the island for ministry, took Larry Tim and Evelyn DeGraciaand I to the island of Maui for two days. They introduced us to many of their friends, who instantly became our new friends. What fun we had with the different culture backgrounds: Japanese, Filipino, Korean, and South African. As you can see by this photo of us girls, I was definitely the tall Norwegian! The first evening, our new friends fixed us a Japanese meal and the following evening we had a Filipino meal. Each meal consisted of 5-8 courses. Yes, Larry loved it!…me too. Their delicious cooking so graciously added 5 pounds to my 5 foot 8 frame. I'm sure glad I don't have to put all my pounds in a 4 foot 11 frame- I would look like a mini Volkswagen - HA! Our island friends know how to cook…and cook they do. And oh my, all the fresh fruits - including pineapple- we will surely miss that.

Oh yes, the Saturday before we were blessed to attend the wedding of our friend Leanor's son. It was beautiful and so much fun. Anytime the Filipino's have a special Our friend, Leanor's son and his brideevent you're sure to have lots of delicious food and a lot of fun. We were so blessed that our friends Tim, Evelyn and Leanor housed us in a beautiful townhouse for 2 ½ weeks, gave us a car to use and fed us most of our meals. They are one of the main reasons it's possible for us to return to Hawaii every two years to minister. Thanks again, Tim, Evelyn and Leanor.

On February 14, Valentine's Day, Larry and I boarded the United Airlines at 6:00 pm. We had a long, long flight home with our knees scrunched up against the seat ahead of us. We arrived into Phoenix, AZ at 9:30 am. Our friends, Jan and Dennis Duff, picked us up and took us back to our motor home in northwest Phoenix. They were so kind to watch over our motor home for the past three months as it was parked by a church in Glendale.

Last Sunday, we had two services at Apache Junction Assembly of God with their new pastors Mike and Susie McNeely. What a refreshing and motivated young couple.

Rev. Michael and Susie McNeely"I would like to thank Larry & Gloria for ministering in the first and second services last Sunday morning. It was good to see both young and old respond to the altars."  - Rev. McNeely

That church was the first church we ministered in when we launched our Family to Family ministry in 1982. We've been back there every two years since then. The church has a real special place in our hearts. In the two services there had to be about 75-100 friends who had been in our services from coast to coast in years past. It was really fun seeing all of them again. Larry and I were especially thrilled to have four of my brothers, their wives, a nephew and his wife with their two children, and a niece attend a morning service. To The big Brooks groupmake it even more special, my precious mother, Julie Brooks, 92-years-old, who is wintering in Arizona was able to attend. This is a photo of some of them just leaving after the service. That was such a treasure.

This past month in Hawaii meeting people from all over the world has been so interesting and inspiring. It's good for us to get out of our comfort zone and "fish bowl" mentality. Once you receive Christ as your personal Savior, it doesn't make any difference where you travel in the world - far and wide - when you meet other A Bird of Paradise in HawaiiChristians, you instantly bond. Isn't that great?

Speaking of friends, Larry and I want to thank you for following us through our website. You've truly become family to us. We appreciate the emails, and if you'd like to leave us a note on the Guest book page you can. Have a great week. We'll connect with you again on March 5th.

One Sunday, a minister played hooky from church so he could shoot a round of golf. St. Peter, looking down from heaven, seethed. "You're going to let him get away with this, God?"

The Lord shook his head.

The minister took his first shot. The ball soared through the air 420 yards and dropped into the cup for a hole-in-one. St. Peter was outraged. "I thought you were going to punish him!"

The Lord shrugged. "Who's he going to tell?"

When we walked in the church it seemed as though we were never gone. We were welcomed back with so much love. Their wonderful worship team joyfully sang songs that gave us a little bit of that feeling of what heaven will be like. Pastor Bob and Kathy have such loving hearts its easy to see why the congregation loves them so much. The altar was packed with those who Ewa Beach A/G altar callresponded that wanted a deeper walk with the Lord and also some first time decisions. Sunday night I spoke on prayer, answers to prayer and guilt-free praying. At the end of the service we called families to come forward so we could pray over them. It was a touching time.

Pastor Robert and Kathy Stalcup

"What I deeply appreciate about Larry and Gloria's ministry is that they have never changed their message...What I mean by that is that so many ministry's and churches change their methods and have followed many fads. Larry and Gloria have stayed with the salvation message and the Word. People continue to come to Christ through their salvation message and we are so thankful for that."  - Rev. Robert Stalcup

I've personally known Kathy Stalcup since 1990 when she invited me to Gloria with Kathy Stalcupcome to the Hawaiian Islands to speak at a women's retreat for the Assemblies of God. As the director of women's ministries she invited me back several times throughout the years. God has richly blessed her ministry and our friendship. I've often wished I could do something special to bless her personally...and never really got it done. Then last Sunday, God took "my desire" and went far beyond anything I could have done! After we sang and ministered at the morning service and Larry gave the invitation to come to Christ, Kathy's mother and sisterKathy Stalcup with her mother and sister stood up to give their hearts to Christ for the very first time. I looked over at Kathy and saw her wiping tears of joy and I realized that God had given her the true desire of her heart...the salvation of both her mother, 82 years old, and her sister. She had prayed for years and years and years for her mother. What a joy! Thank you Jesus...you gave what I couldn't...the gift of eternal life to her precious mother.

"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above..." - James 1:17

On Tuesday, Feb. 5, it was our "Family Prayer Day". Friends from all over the U. S. sent in their prayer requests for their unsaved loved ones. Larry and I prayed over hundreds of names and families and we are now waiting for the victory reports of answers to our prayers. We also made many phone calls to pray for families. That was really a touching time.

I'm sure you will agree that the home, marriage and family are under attack. As you already know we have designated 2008 as the year of the return of the family. We're taking back our loved ones through prayer.

There is nothing too great for God to do. Jeremiah 32:27 says, "Behold I am the Lord, the God of all flesh (all of our loved ones) is there anything to hard for me?" Through prayer, persistence and perseverance nothing is impossible, but its going to take discipline on our part. We need to hit the throne room and He will do the rest.

"Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and He will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon." - Isaiah 55:6-7

Let's keep the prayers going up and expect the answers to come down. If you can find a day to fast for a couple of meals for your loved ones I know that God will honor your sacrifice and prayers.

Well, we'll talk to you next from Arizona! Until then keep looking up - and rejoice for He is still on the throne!

Gloria

With Valentines Day around the corner I thought you would enjoy this...What love means to children 4-8 years old:

Rebecca age 8-When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love!

Carl-age 5-Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other.

Chrissy-age6-Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your french fries without making you give them any of theirs.

Terri-age 4-Love is what makes you smile when you're tired.

Danny-age 7-Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him to make sure the taste is okay.

Emily-age 8-Love is when you kiss all the time. Then you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and talk more. My mommy and daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss!

Some Suggestions for Lenten fasting for you and me:

1. Fast from anger and hatred. Give your family an extra dose of love each day.

2. Fast from judging others. Before making any judgement, recall how Jesus overlooks our faults.

3. Fast from discouragement. Hold onto God's promise of a perfect plan for our lives. (Jeremiah 29:11)

4. Fast from complaining. When you find yourself about to complain, close your eyes and recall some of the little moments of joy Jesus has given you.

5. Fast from resentment or bitterness. Work on forgiving those who may have hurt you.

6. Fast from spending too much money. Try to reduce your spending by 10% and give these savings to the poor.

Lettuce leaves absorb fat. Place a few into the pot of soup or stew and fat will cling to them.

Aloha from Hawaii! On January 15th we boarded American Airlines in Minneapolis, MN, at 9:00 AM. It was one of those mornings I did not want to get out of bed as it was 4 below zero outside, and there were two below cozy blankets (this would be Larry and me). We were at our daughter, LaDawn's, home when the alarm went off at about 6:00 AM. I peeked out the windows and the outside world appeared frozen...and it was! The thought of leaving a warm bed, and cozy house to go outdoors was at that moment undesirable.

I tried to cheer myself up by thinking that once we arrived at the airport and boarded the plane to Hawaii, we wouldn't experience this arctic weather again until next winter. That thought immediately energized me. While I was fixing myself a slice of toast I shared this with LaDawn, to which she responded, "It seems you and dad always know when an arctic front is moving in, and you leave for a warm climate, and I'm stuck here to endure it." I felt a bit badly that I had said that until we arrived 12 hours of flight time later and 3,776 miles across the water at the Honolulu airport. We disembarked the airplane, sauntered through the open-air terminal. Larry and I looked at each other with a look of glee and chuckled, "Yes...it was worth the miles and hours on the plane to see these palm trees, feel the soft trade winds and warm ourselves in the 75 degree temperatures." It was awesome!

Just before we left Minneapolis some friends chided, "Yeah, it must be rough having to go to Hawaii to minister." To which I responded, "I'm sure thankful there are people in these warm climates that need Jesus and need encouragement! And... Larry and I are willing to go."

We've been ministering in the Hawaiian Islands every two years since 1990 when I spoke at the Hawaiian Islands Women's Convention for the Assembly of God in Kona, on the big island. Women flew in from all the surrounding islands. What a wonderful time of spiritual refreshing we had! Larry and I bonded immediately with our island friends. These precious people wanted ministry, not entertainment, and that's where we bonded. Since then, we've come back every two years, and there have been multiplied hundreds who have made decisions for Christ.

Gloria with Marilyn Ah ZatThis past Saturday we drove to the other side of the island to Rev. Janet Cordeiro's church in Waimanalo. We were greeted by Marilyn Ah Zat who assisted us in our set up for the upcoming Sunday service. Marilyn hugged me and said "Gloria, do you remember me? I was at the conference in 1990 in Kona and I asked you to pray with me for my unsaved husband. Then, in February 1994, you and Larry came to Waimanalo and sang and preached at our church. When Larry gave the invitation for those who would like to receive Christ into their hearts, my husband, Ernest responded. I was so thrilled, and I'm still thrilled!"

That testimony gave me energy and encouragement to start this Hawaiian Island ministry outreach.

Sunday morning we had a precious time of ministry with Pastor Janet CoLarry with Pastor Janet Cordeirordeiro and her congregation. She is such a precious woman of God. This past year she and a few members of her congregation have started a prison ministry and over 160 inmates have made commitments to Christ. They go back each week and do Bible studies with those who gave their hearts to CLarry giving the altar callhrist. That's what I call, "Getting ministry out of the four walls." Sometimes we are willingly confined within the churches four walls. We are content to come, receive, eat and go home to go about our own lives for another week. I believe what God really desires is for us to come to church, worship Him, get set spiritually, be discipled, and then mentored for the entire purpose of taking His Light to the workplace, prison, hospitals, or whatever doors God opens for us.

Please, let me challenge you. The next time you go to church take a notepad with you. Take notes on what you've received and pray and ask God where He wants you to share this message. Someone will be waiting to be spiritually fed. You can change the eternal destiny of someone this coming week. Take the challenge! Respond to the Great Commission in Mark 16:15. "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation."

We appreciate your prayers for us as we minister here. Thanks!

Gloria

CHUCKLE OF THE WEEK

En route to Hawaii from Minneapolis we had a few moments before boarding. I decided to make a quick dash to the airport bathroom which was a ways from my departure gate. I scurried in, closed the stall door, and grabbed a paper tissue seat cover (by the way, I always appreciate in a public bathroom). I placed the seat cover on the toilet seat, and when I was finished, I pulled my slacks up and continued to automatically flush. I quickly made my way through the crowded bathroom and patiently made my way to the sink to wash my hands. I walked through another crowd of women to the exit door, and continued on about 8 feet into the main terminal. As I always do, I reached back to pull my sweater down and then...I felt it! The seat cover protector was stuck on my backside like it was glued to me. At first I panicked as I pulled it off and tried to ignore the countless number of passengers who saw it and who must have wondered if I really knew how to follow instructions like, "Please place seat cover on the toilet seat for your protection." And not on your seat after you have your slacks pulled up! Oh well...don't ask me how or why it happened. Laughing, I told Larry about it. He just chuckled and said, "If something crazy is going to happen, it will happen to you!"

So this week--- the chuckle was on me!

HOUSEHOLD HINT OF THE WEEK

Don't wrestle with a slippery cutting board. Use a section of foam fabric shelf liner (or rug gripper) underneath any glass, plastic, or wooden cutting board to hold it securely in place while you use it.

Greetings from Minneapolis, Minnesota! This month already reminds me of a speedometer on a car---each day is clicking away at an amazing speed. Nine days have already vanished!

Larry and I have had a busy month thus far taking care of office needs in Sisseton. We are now feverishly preparing and packing for our next on the road tour. It has been great to be home, allowing us the opportunity to work out of our home office wading through the various piles of paperwork that seem to accumulate in our absence. But now...both of us are ready to hit the road! We are anxious to sing, preach, and see lives changed through the grace and power of God.

January 9, 2008

This week we made a quick run to Minneapolis to have some medical tests conducted to insure that our bodies are ready for the race of 2008. Because seven of my brothers have experienced heart problems, and due to some symptoms I have been experiencing, I have been encouraged to have some cardiac tests done. Yesterday Larry drove me over to Health West Heart Clinic in Plymouth, MN, which is a branch of Abbott Northwest in Minneapolis. As God would have it, my doctor is Dr. David Hurrell who originally lived only 90 miles from Larry and my hometown of Sisseton. He took my blood pressure, looked over his glasses and reported, "178 over 86...not good. You look too relaxed to have that high blood pressure. We have to do something about that as that is stroke zone." Dr. Hurrell hesitated a moment and then said, "You're the Lundstroms. I'm familiar with your ministry and kind of followed it years ago when you were on the road." Then he continued, " How long have you been off the road?" Larry and I chuckled and said, "We're still out there!" Dr. Hurrell hesitated again and thoughtfully asked, "How many years have you been out there?" To which Larry answered, "46 years for me and 42 ½ years for Gloria." Dr. Hurrell shook his head in amazement and then announced, "Wow...that's a long time! It's hard to believe you are still out there. You must really have a passion for it." I chirped, "That's exactly what it is....a passion to help people find Christ and a passion to encourage the hurting."

In today's world of pressure, problems and deadlines, it is truly our passion for the Lost that has kept us pushing on.

Last night I saw printed on a napkin a saying from Mark Twain. It read, "Why not go out on a limb? That's where the fruit is." When I read that, I realized it kind of expresses Larry and I's outlook on ministry. We go here and there to out of way places wherever God calls us because there is fruit (those who need Christ) waiting to be picked. Yes, that is our passion!

We will be dashing back to Sisseton on Friday after I finish the various testing. We then pack for a 3 ½ month tour, close up the house and rush back to Minneapolis to catch a flight to Hawaii starting our next tour.

Yesterday, a friend called and said, "Wow! I see you are starting your tour in Hawaii. You will sure suffer for Jesus, huh? HA!" We responded, "Yes, isn't it amazing that people in paradise need Jesus too. If someone has got to go, it might as well be us." (Chuckle)

Due to our heavy schedule and traveling this upcoming week, we won't be doing the on the road update on the 16th. Check us out on January 23rd for the next update. In that e-mail, we will be sharing testimonies, photos and altar calls from our first week in Hawaii.

Thanks, again, for being a part of our on-the-road family. It means so much!

Gloria

POEM OF THE WEEK

TWO-THOUSAND-AND-EIGHT

By Lydia Chorpening (rlv-sog@charter.net)

Unclog all the channels

Make the cocked paths straight

This is our mandate

For two-thousand-and-eight.

Forgive your brothers

Remove every bit of hate

Then you'll walk in peace

In two-thousand-and-eight

Let your eyes stay focused

Don't lean on fate

Keep walking in faith

Throughout two-thousand-and-eight

Shake off any hindrance

Pick up your gait

Wholly follow the Lord

In two-thousand-and-eight

Arise with the dawn

So you won't be late

To spend time in God's presence

In two-thousand-and-eight

Leave the crooked behind

God's Word leads you straight

Be full of its wisdom

For two-thousand-and-eight.

"Let your eyes look right on [with fixed purpose],

and let your gaze be straight before you."

Proverbs 4:25 (AB)

"And cut through and make firm and plain and

smooth, straight paths for your feet…"

Hebrews 12:13a (AB)

CHUCKLE OF THE WEEK

YOU WILL KNOW YOU ARE LIVING IN 2008 when...

1.You accidentally enter your password on the microwave.

2.You haven't played solitaire with real cards in years.

3. You have a list of 15 phone numbers to reach your family of 3.

4.You e-mail the person who works at the desk next to you.

5. Your reason for not staying in touch with friends and family is that they don't have e-mail addresses.

6. You pull up in your own driveway and use your cell phone to see if anyone is home to help you carry in the groceries.

7. Every commercial on television has a web site at the bottom of the screen.

8.Leaving the house without your cell phone, which you didn't have the first 20 or 30 (or 60) years of your life, is now a cause for panic and you turn around to go and get it.

10. You get up in the morning and go online before getting your coffee.

11. You start tilting your head sideways to smile. : )

12. You're reading this and nodding and laughing.

13.Even worse, you know exactly to whom you are going to forward this message.

14. You are too busy to notice there was no #9 on this list.

15. You actually scrolled back up to check that there wasn't a #9 on this list.
