Praise the Lord....Larry's back! He arrived in Minneapolis at 4:10 PM last Friday. Our daughter, LaDawn, the grandkids and I welcomed him home with lots of hugs! He looked a bit weary from the long trip from Latvia, Russia. As soon as he cracked a few crazy jokes, I knew he was back safe...and sound??? (HA!)
Larry didn't have much time to recuperate as that evening we celebrated Myanna's 8th birthday with a party. She had a swimming party with a few cousins and friends. Myanna also had, what we call "her twin", Tyra, there. Myanna has been through daycare and the first two grades of school with her. You have to look at them twice to see which one is which. By 9:30 PM, which was 5:30 AM Russian time, Larry was almost incoherent so we went back to LaDawn's. He literally walked in and within two minutes was in bed fast asleep. He slept 8 hours and was up and running on Saturday.
Saturday was another special day. We traveled toward Shell Lake, WI, for a rally, but stopped at Eau Claire, WI, to see our son , Donovan, who we hadn't seen since Christmas. He was working a few hours there. We had the joy to be able to be with him and to also attend an outdoor concert that he was running sound for. We cherished each moment with him. I miss him so much! I told him on the phone today, "I just wanted to shoot you with a tranquilizer gun, stuff you in our luggage, and bring you home so we could just enjoy you and spend time with you!" But....as you, parents, know, when they leave home, they live their own lives and we must just savor those few moments we have together. Donovan lives in Nashville, TN, and is traveling a lot so we don't see him as often as we would like. That's life!
From Eau Claire, WI, we drove to Shell Lake, WI, and set up our sound system at Shell Lake Full Gospel. We have ministered at this church several times through the years. Pastor Virgil Amundson and his wife, Linda, are so precious and have tender hearts for the Lord. Their church has a great burden for the youth and thus a great program for them. After the Sunday morning service, 30 of their young people journeyed off to Colorado Springs, CO, for a Leadership Conference. These young people are really turned on for God! Oh how I love to see that!
Pastor Amundson has a heart for the Lost and hurting. We had a wonderful service and altar call. He shared the following with us:
"Larry and Gloria blessed our Sunday service with their music and message that touched both our younger and older generation. It was wonderful to see several young people receive Christ at the altar as well as several re-dedications.
Larry is an anointed soul winner who has never compromised his message of preaching Christ and the cross. I commend Larry and Gloria for that. Thanks for a great service!"
After the morning service, Dawn and Michelle Dodge, approached me in the foyer. Dawn's face was just radiant and she bubbled, "Gloria, in the year 2000, you and Larry ministered here at this church and we came to see you. We were so blessed by your ministry. I will never forget when Larry gave the altar call, he waited a few minutes for those who wanted to receive Christ to respond. He then announced, 'I'm going to wait one more minute and this altar call will be over.' I knew God was speaking to my heart. When he came to the last thirty seconds, I stood up and my mother stood up with me. I will never forget that day and the feeling of Jesus lifting me to my feet. It was an amazing day and all these years later, the commitment is still there and staying strong. Thank you! I just wanted to come this morning and thank you for your part in leading us to Christ."
Dawn's daughter, Michelle, who is about to begin Graduate Studies in college shared with us, "Larry prayed with me in March of 2000 to accept Christ here at Shell Lake Full Gospel Church. What a joy it was to be able to come this morning and enjoy your ministry. Also, what a privilege to be able to thank you and the Lord for helping my grandma, my mom and me find Christ."
This testimony from Muriel Lindquist was also shared with us, "What a blessing to be able to attend the service in Buffalo (July 2nd), with your wonderful singing, Gloria's testimony, words of encouragement and Larry's preaching. The true salvation message through song and word reaches people for the Lord. Praise God for those who came to Christ this morning. It was in the early 70's when my late husband, Pete, was involved in bringing the Lundstrom's to Pipestone, MN. I still see the results of changed lives during that crusade, including two of our daughters, their friends and many others who came to Jesus over 30 years ago. Thank you for allowing God to continue to use you to win souls for Him. You are faithful to God's calling as He remains faithful to us."
It is testimonies like the above that keep us hitting the road. I am so thankful that when I was eight years old, someone kept inviting our family to church. Finally, our family of about nine (at that time) went and that morning, we also felt Christ lift all of us off our feet to make decisions for Christ. All that has to happen to see people come to Christ is to follow what John 12:32 says, "And if I be lifted up...I will draw all men unto me." I am so eternally grateful that someone cared enough to invite our family to church. Now there are 103 in our immediate family and about 90 of them are serving the Lord. Isn't that great! God is good!
Well, it's time to go. It has been fun talking to you again. I look forward to connecting with you next week! God bless you and keep you!
Gloria

CHUCKLE OF THE WEEK
WHICH FOOD IS THE MOST HARMFUL?
The doctor was addressing a large audience, "The material we put into our stomachs is enough to have killed most of us sitting here years ago. Red meat is awful. Soft drinks corrode your stomach lining. Chinese food is loaded with MSG. High fat diets can be disastrous, and none of us realize the long term harm caused by the germs in our drinking water. But there is one thing that is most dangerous of all and we all have, or will, eat it. Can anyone here tell me what food it is that causes the most grief and suffering for years after eating it?"
After several seconds of silence, a 75 year old man sitting on the front row raised his hand and softly said, "Wedding cake!"
