Greetings from the breathtaking state of Wisconsin! The rolling hills, streams, dairy farms polka dotted with Holstein cows, towering corn fields...oh...it's just beautiful. We are enjoying every inch of the area.

We journeyed last week from South Dakota to Minneapolis where we spent two days taking care of business which in turn allowed Myanna to spend two days with her mom and brother. Larry and I had a pleasant surprise as well. We were able to see our daughter, LaShawn, who stopped in Minneapolis for a few hours on her way from the East coast en route to Calgary Canada. We only had four hours with her, but it was a wonderful four hours. Every minute we can spend with our family is special.

We enjoyed the scrumptious meal!Last Friday we drove from Minneapolis to Whitehall, Wisconsin, where we were invited to attend, sing and speak at Reach Out Ministries' annual hog roast dinner which conclRev Allen & Wanda Skrochuded with an evening outreach rally. The meal and trimmings were delicious, the fellowship was sweet and the evening event was blessed. Friends drove in from all over the area. Pastor Allen and Wanda Skroch and staff welcomed us like family. We had a great service and time of ministry.

Danny and his son, Samuel, responded to the altar call...precious!Fred Poquette and his 6 year old son, Samuel, drove in from Eau Claire, WI to join us for the evening. When the altar call was given, Fred and his son stepped forward to receive Christ. After the service little Samuel came up to me and grinned, "This is the first time I've asked Jesus to come into my heart." That defThe altar call was powerful as we saw lives changed in Whitehall, WI!initely melted my heart. His father, Fred, a single parent said, "I've been hurting and struggling; I needed to step forward to reaffirm my commitment to Christ. I feel so good after doing that. You have ministered to me at different rallies all through the years. Thanks for coming here tonight."

That testimony alone made the trip to Wisconsin worth it!

Danny and his son visited our rally in Tomah...it was good to see them! It's always special to see friends like Danny Meis and his son from Mondovi, WI. Danny and his parents have been partners with this ministry for years and have been a real encouragement to us.

On Saturday we drove to Tomah, WI, famously known for it's cranberries and Cranberry Fest. It is also known for it's delicious cheese curds and various cheeses.

Saturday afternoon we set up our sound equipment at The altar call in Tomah, WILighthouse Assembly for a Sunday soul-winning service. It was great being back with Pastor Terry Terrell again. We've been with him at three different places where he has ministered. Pastor Terry is a pastor/evangelist. He has traveled as an evangelist and has the heart of both a pastor and evangelist. He has also served on staff at Trinity Bible College in Ellendale, ND. Lighthouse Assembly Pastor & Mrs. Terry Terrell--a great couple serving the Lord!of God is blessed to have him.

Pastor Terrell shared this about the rally,

"We were delighted to have Larry and Gloria at Lighthouse again. With little advertising, we had 30 visitors in attendance. When you gave your altar call, 12 people responded-two for salvation and 10 to rededicate their lives to Christ. Your ministry is straight-forward, impacting and deeply appreciated."

Last night, Myanna, Larry and I went for a walk in Tomah. It was one of those perfect summer evenings. Almost every home was arrayed with flower baskets, planters or gardens. I loved it! It was so colorful and appealing. When we were home in Sisseton at the end of May, I planted a few petunias in hopes that somehow someway that they would survive while I was gone with nobody there to water them. Well, when we came back a month later, I was surprised to see that the pink and purple petunias looked beautiful. My personal gardener, the Lord, watered them with His rain. After we came back home, the temps rose to nearly 100 degrees and even with my daily watering they were desperately struggling to stay alive. The day before we left about one week ago, we had heat like a blast furnace along with 35 mph winds. I whimpered, "They will never survive this. When I go out there, they will be lying flat on the ground so I guess I may as well kiss them goodbye. Ha!" After about 12 hours of raging winds, I slipped out the front door to grieve over them, but to my total astonishment, they stood taller and firmer than ever. I stood back in amazement and whispered, "Lord, this is amazing!" God reminded me that when we go through the winds of life and they try to bring us down, we have a choice. We can give in to the wind, lay down and die, or we can challenge it. Those petunias chose to allow the challenge of the high winds to strengthen it's root system and to reach upward, rather than to allow the wind to break it's stems, wilt and die.

I have to be honest. That day I, too, was struggling against the winds of office deadlines, fatigue and physical pain. After seeing those flowers, God encouraged me to stop, take a few moments in His Word, and He promised He would strengthen me. In the midst of my busyness, I sat down in my chair for about 30 minutes and began to rest and pray. When I got up, I felt refreshed and ready to go again. God brought a couple of verses to mind. Psalm 27:14 says, "Wait on the Lord: Be of good courage and He shall strengthen my heart. Wait, I say, on the Lord." And another favorite verse of mine came to mind which is Psalm 28:7, "The Lord is my Strength and my Shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise Him."

I can testify over and over--- HE is my strength and my song! I pray that He is yours, too! Have a great week!

A little boy in church for the first time watched as the ushers passed around the offering plate. When they came near his pew the boy said loudly, "Don't pay for me, Daddy. I'm under five."

The father of five children had won a toy at a raffle. He called his kids together to ask which one should have the present.

"Who is the most obedient?"

"Who never talks back to mother?"

"Who does everything she says?"

Five small voices answered in unison.

"Okay, Dad, you get the toy."

Use lifesavers candy to hold candles in place on your next birthday cake! Kids love 'em!

Greetings from Sisseton! At 7:45 AM this morning, our phone rang. I answered and the voice of a desperate person pleaded, "Do you take prayer requests?" "Yes, we do," I responded. With his voice trembling, he implored, " I need prayer. I'm a single parent. I am separated from my little daughter and I am severely depressed." Cautiously, I interjected, "Do you know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior?" Reluctantly and regretfully, he said, "I gave my heart to God years and years ago, but I've fallen away. I want to get back to God-would you pray with me?" I acknowledged, "I would be happy to!" I took a few minutes at first to encourage him and then he prayed with me.

Before we hung up, I directed him to a local pastor and church where he could receive help and get involved. What an exciting way to wake up, receiving a phone call from someone who is hungry for God. You can't beat that! The Lundstrom Clan!

Last week was a whirlwind of events with 4th of July festivities, two family reunions, a family wedding, and a high school class reunion. It was great having the opportunity to spend a few minutes here and there with friends and family, especially, when we are not able to get together very often. I love to take advantage of those moments when I can.

After a family wedding on Saturday, we rushed over to Larry's all class reunion. When we left the building, we chuckled, "WOW! The last time we saw some of them was high school graduation. Now, here we are back at the Senior Citizen center for a reunion. Those years sure did fly by!" Larry and I chided, "Why is everyone looking old? HA!" I am sure that is exactly what they thought, too, when they saw Larry and I. I would imagine that's why they give everyone a name badge rather than to pursue the "Guess Who's Who" game.

Last Thursday night, our daughter, LaDawn, and grandson, Dante', were able The grandkids and granddog---what fun we have had!to come home for a couple of days, and of course, they brought the granddog with them. Myanna was so happy and excited to see her mommy, brother and dog. She had been marking off the days on my little table calendar with a felt tip pen. Once they arrived, Dante' and Myanna couldn't wait to shoot fireworks. One thing that is nice about South Dakota---on July 4th, fireworks are legal to set off.

Gloria and Connie enjoying some time together. We also were able to spend an evening at an area lake resort with Larry's brother, Lowell, and his wife, Connie. They pastor Celebration Church in Lakeville, MN. Lowell and Connie will be celebrating 50 years of marriage and ministry in late August, hosting a week long It was great to see family!celebration of special guest singers and speakers. We will have a part in the celebration as special guests on Saturday, August 25th. We traveled with Lowell and Connie for 21 years in full time evangelism, coast to coast and overseas. God blessed our combined efforts together to reach multiplied thousands for Christ.

As you are reading this, we are en route to Whitehall, Wisconsin, for a Friday night service and then on to Tomah, Wisconsin, to minister Sunday morning. We are praying and believing for another great harvest of souls.

As many of you know already, our granddaughter, Myanna, has been traveling with us for the past five weeks. What a joy and help she has been! She and I have been learning some scriptures and are having some great "planting spiritual seed" sessions. A couple of days ago, our scripture was Isaiah 59:2, "..your sins have separated you from God." This verse brought about an interesting conversation as to why we hide the Word of God in our hearts. We talked about the things that could and would separate from God. As I was sharing with her, God was speaking to my heart about one of the big separators--- busyness. In this day of crazy, feverish paced life and hecticness, it's easy to get so busy that our time with God can be stolen without hardly realizing it, and that's exactly what satan wants. He's working overtime to try and separate us from God. We need to be more alert and attentive to his What a way to celebrate---LaDawn and Larry!tactics. The bible says in 1 Peter 5:8 (NAS), "Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls about like a roaring lion seeking SOMEONE to devour." I don't want to be one of those SOMEONE'S, do you? I have a feeling we are going to have to work harder than ever to resist and fight him, but with God, it's possible.

Have a great week!

Signs of middle age

Maybe it's true that life begins at fifty,

but everything starts to wear out, fall out, or spread out.

Middle age is when work is a lot less fun, and fun is a lot more work.

Middle age is when it takes longer to rest that to get tired.

A man has reached middle age when he is cautioned to slow down

by his doctor instead of by the police.

Middle age is when you stop growing at both ends and have

begun to grow in the middle.

Last Saturday, we drove to Yankton, SD, and set up for Sunday morning service at the Yankton First Assembly of God church. We have been with Pastor Jeff Mantz several times since the early 80's. His church is growing and exploding withLarry with Pastor Jeff Mantz many young couples, teens and children. It is always a thrill to see our future generation hunger after righteousness. Pastor Jeff is a motivator and a people-mover. He doesn't allow his congregation to sit and be stagnant; he and his staff keep his congregation involved in several outreaches as well as missions trips. Pastor Jeff told Larry, "We are always happy to have a harvest group come in like you and Gloria. There is always a harvest of souls."

Seeing people come to Christ never gets old!!!Right after the morning service, a mother with her teenager came up and gave me a great big bear hug. She exclaimed, "Thank you for staying out there after all these years. You ministered at a women's retreat in Pierre in the early 80's and my life was changed. I've never been the same since. Thanks and stay in there!" Testimonies like that encourage us to keep on keeping on after 42 years on the road. Todd Storer with Larry

Speaking of people's lives being changed, we ran into Todd Storer when we were in Gettysburg, SD, last week.  He gave his heart to Christ years ago in one of our rallies.  It was so great to reconnect and see him going for God these many years later!

I had another interesting experience Sunday morning. A very dignified lady came up to me and asked, "Do you believe in miracles?" I didn't hesitate to respond as I said, "Yes I do...do you need one?" Tears filled her eyes as I put my arms around her and together we prayed for her miracle. She stepped into the background for a few minutes and then approached me once more and inquired, "Gloria, could I speak to you for a couple of minutes?" She then began to pour out her heart amidst tears, "Gloria, I was called into ministry, but I never followed God's calling. I'm so miserable because I know I have missed God's will." Not skipping a beat I responded, "You've not missed God's will, you have only delayed God's will for your life, and it's not too late." She questioned, "But I'm getting older. What can I do now?" I reminded her that she could call on the hurting, send cards of comfort and encouragement, visit the lonely, take food to the shut-ins, visit the forgotten and alone in resthomes. I continued to encourage her to adopt a teenager or two from a single parent home taking them out once a week for lunch to just love them, show concern and help guide them. Her eyes lit up, "I never thought of that...then it isn't too late, is it?" "Of course not," I said, "It's just the beginning of the call on your life." She hugged me again and scurried out of the church.

God has a ministry for each one of us. His commission is "Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel." That word "go" means all of us. Ask God what He would have you to do to reach the lost and hurting. If you do, you will feel fulfilled and will be happy knowing you have followed God's calling. No one is ever truly happy unless he is giving out of his life. Accept the challenge! Have a great week!

By the way, it has been great to be home and spend some time with our office staff who serve the ministry.  They do a wonderful job!  Here the girls are with Larry at a birthday dinner.

We continued on to the east side of the riverEveryone enjoyed the outdoors! to Whitlock Recreation Campground where we were special guests for the Gettysburg, SD, Grace Bible Church Family Camp. What a refreshing time we had with this wonderful group of people! When we arrived, there were already dozens of tents and RV campers set up. From the moment we arrived, it was action-packed and excitement was in the air! Everywhere we looked there were children running and playing, teenagers having a blast, couples huddled around campfires, and seniors enjoying coffee andThere's nothing like eating in the outdoors! visiting. We were privileged to be hosted by several families for campfire meals. Each host family was so special, and the food was delicious! There is just nothing like a campfire and food cooked out in the open. Larry and I only get to do this once or twice a year so we really, really enjoyed it.

Vanessa Van Bockel played beautifully at the Saturday night youth led service.

On Saturday night, they had a worship service around the bonfire with the youth leading it. They shared testimonies and we spent time praying over prayer requests. After that was over, we sauntered to several campsites where they shared marshmallows and s'mores with us. The moon was so bright and the soft breezes were whistling through the pines. Larry turned to me and said, "Do you know what? I could really handle more of this." I assured him that I was in total agreement with him.

Sunday morning we had a beautiful Sunday worship service in the park. The temperature rose to nearly 100 degrees making us very thankful for the breeze that helped distract us from the blazing heat. We sang and ministered. When Larry gave the altar call, several stepped forward to make commitments to Christ. It was thrilling to see Pastor & Mrs. Carrie Gossencouples, singles and teens respond. The joy and peace that appeared on their faces after they prayed was worth the entire trip across the badlands and prairies of western South Dakota. We thank Pastor and Mrs. Gossen for the privilege of ministering and sharing with their congregation. Gossen's are such a sweet and loving couple and their congregation takes after them...sweet and loving.

Our granddaughter, Myanna, had so much fun with all of those kids. On Saturday afternoon, I said to her, "Wow, Myanna...you are having a great time meeting new friends!" She looked at me with her big brown eyes and said, "Yeah, Myanna with her new friend, JenGrandma-the only bad part is that I will have to leave them." I reassured her and replied, "Myanna, the good part of traveling is that every place we go you make more new friends." She piped up, "You're right, Grandma!"

When I was growing up, Mom always made sure that our family spent a few days at Lake Geneva Family Camp in Alexandria, MN. Bless her heart...she packed food, clothes, camping equipment, dishes, pots, pans and bedding for all of us, no small feat with a family our size. Our station wagon overflowed, plus we had additional gear strapped on the top, not to mention all of us piled in the wagon. What patience and perseverance she had in order to corral all of us! We would rent a little "rustic" cabin (to say the least) or a couple side by side dorm rooms for all of us. She definitely had her hands full with babies, toddlers and teens. Amidst everything going on, she had to referee water bucket fights, pillow fights, food fights, and search for missing kids who ran here and there. Somehow she managed to round all of us up for the meals and got everybody cleaned up in time to attend the evening campmeetings. I often wondered how or why she went through all that work, sacrifice and punishment! HA! As I grew into my teens, I began to understand why--- she wanted to take us everywhere she could no matter what the event was to have spiritual input into our lives. God honored her sacrifice and we were spiritually touched (at least, I'd like to think all of us were-you know kids!). Those family camp days along with the kids and teen camps left a huge impact on our spiritual lives. As a family we can thank mom for going the ten thousandth mile to make sure each of us had the opportunity to receive spiritual food for spiritual growth. I'm so glad she paid the price.

The bible says to "not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together" in Hebrews 10:25 and it tells us further to encourage one another in the Lord. We all need those times of refreshing. If you are able to take in events this summer...do it. You will be refreshed like Larry, Myanna and I were.

We drove back to Sisseton and arrived home late Monday evening. This weekend will take us to Yankton, SD, for a soulwinning service.

Have a great week and may you feel Jesus ever so close to you!

He replied, "I'm waiting for the first coat to dry so I can put on another."

Pastor Brian & Wilma Anderson of Hill City, SDLast Thursday, a week ago, Larry and I had a service at the Assembly of God church in the small, tourist town of Hill City, SD.  We didn't have very big crowds, but the hearts of these people were huge and loving.  Many that attended have followed our ministry for several years. This small church supports us monthly and we so appreciate their part in helping to send us out to reach the lost.

On Sunday morning, Father's Day, our cell phone began to ring early with phone calls from our three children and grandson wishing Larry a Happy Father's Day. Larry and Myanna It's always a joy hearing from them all.  Our granddaughter, Myanna, was so happy to be with us for "Grandpa's Day".  Grandpa loves all the hugs and kisses he gets from his little princess!  Sunday morning when we entered the little Baptist church in Custer, SD, we were greeted by three of the most beautiful little redheads…all sisters.  Their red hair and big blue eyes stole our hearts.  They were bundles of energy; I'm sure their mom and dad are so proud of them.  We had a sweet service and Larry shared a heartwarming but challenging Father's Day message.  Of course, Larry always gives a call for salvation.  When he gave the invitation for those to receive Christ that morning, a couple in their 80's stepped forward andCarol and Gloria prayed the sinner's prayer.  As they prayed, you could actually see peace and joy sweep over their faces.  It was instantly noticeable. I stepped up to the couple and asked, "Now if you die, where will you go?"  The wife's face beamed and her eyes danced as she chirped, "Heaven!"  That moment was worth a million dollars!  God is so good!  It's always delightful to see our partners on the road, and Carol Frasier from Custer was no exception.  She's been following our ministry for over 30 years.  She told us, "Thanks for coming to the Hills.  It was a wonderful service and I loved the music and Father's Day message."

Justin and Larry

Larry loves feeding into the lives of young people.  Here's Larry with Justin Romine from Indiana who is working here at Keystone, SD for the summer. They had fun sharing Christ with each other…as the Bible says, "Iron sharpens iron," they loved exchanging spiritual views and ideas.

It was a great week of ministry.  In between our services, Larry, Myanna, and I worked on our fiscal year-end inventory.  We took everything out of the base of the motorcoach, and Myanna helped us sift through the hundreds of ministry Milling through the inventoryproducts we have stuffed in the base of the coach…books, cookbooks, music CD's, cassettes, kids CD's, and a marriage seminar series just to name a few of the things.  It's good to get that business done again and reorganize in the process.  On Monday we had to make a quick run to Rapid City to pick up a few things.  I asked Larry if he could drop Myanna and I off for a couple hours so we could window shop in the mall.  We spent most of the time in the pet store as that is where Myanna and I wanted to go.  We had fun looking at all the puppies, kittens, birds of all kinds, fish, reptiles, tarantulas and mice! I wondered who in God's green earth would pay $29 for a mouse?  Growing up in the rural part of South Dakota, I was 9 years old before I found out that not everyone had a mouse or two as a houseguest in their home.  It was our quest to trap them (or in other words to kill the nasty little critters) and here in this pet store they are selling them!  I could've been a rich kid for selling mice if I'd known somebody would've paid for them- HA!

Myanna and I sauntered over to the hamster cage.  There were three fuzzy, reddish-blonde hamsters in it.  Two of them sat there docile while the other was running on this little hamster wheel.  The wheel was spinning so fast I could hardly focus on it.  After a couple of minutes of this wheel marathon, it jumped off, sat still for about 5-8 seconds, and then jumped right back on the wheel once again making that wheel fly.  I chuckled and told Myanna, "Wow!  That hamster reminds me of…me!"  There's so many days when that's the way my life appears.  I get up, have my coffee and devotions with Larry, jump on life's hamster wheel and begin to attack the deadlines and must-be-dones for the day.  I hate to admit it, but many days I feel like I am flying along almost out of control like that hamster.  I jump off for an afternoon coffee with Larry and jump on again, nearly out of breath until evening.  Often when I'm on that speeding wheel of life, I'm reminded of the following article that my mother gave me about 40 years ago:

SLOW DOWN

Slow me down, Lord!  Ease the pounding in my heart by the quieting of my mind.  Steady my hurried pace with a vision of the eternal reach of time.  Give me, amidst the confusion of the day, the calmness of the everlasting hills.

Break the tension of my nerves with the soothing music of the singing streams that live in my memory.  Help me to know the magical restoring power of sleep.

Teach me the art of taking many vacations; of slowing down to look at a flower; to chat with a friend or to make a new one; to pat a stray dog; to watch a spider build a web; to smile at a child; or to read a few lines from a good book.

Remind me each day Lord that the race is not always to the swift; that there's more to life than increasing its' speed.

It's been good having our granddaughter, Myanna, along as it encourages me to take those moments here and there to take a walk, chat with her, play a few games, and just enjoy life a little bit more.  Psalm 46:10 bids us to "Be still and know that I am God."  We can't be still and know He's God or hear His still, small voice if we are busy running here and there.  Well…I've just convicted and challenged myself as I've written this…I need more of this slow down time- how about you?

HOUSEHOLD HINT OF THE WEEK

A slice of onion on a bee sting helps ease the pain and swelling.

Greetings from beautiful Spearfish South Dakota! What a breath-taking part of western SD! It has hills, streams, pines, canyons, and myriads of wild flowers. The residents here tell us, "If you want to learn fly fishing this is the place to give it a try." Last Sunday morning after church, I was visiting with some of the locals who were bragging about their great trout streams and trout farms around here. In the course of the conversation they asked if I like to fish, to which I responded, "Yes...if I could catch one." I chuckled and shared with them about an experience I had about 25 years ago when our girls were in their early teens. We ventured out on a four day camping trip in Woodland Park outside of Colorado Springs, Colorado. My children and Larry were teasing me about my lack of talent in catching fish. I couldn't even pull in one fish!

One afternoon while taking a drive, we saw a huge sign advertising a trout farm. The blonde that I am--- I had no idea what a trout farm was. Larry explained that you could pay a fee and that they would let you into the trout farm. They would furnish you with a fishing pole and you could go over to a huge tank, throw in your line and you were guaranteed to catch a trout. Feeling like I had to redeem my fishing integrity, I pleaded with Larry to let me selfishly spend the $5.00 so I could prove to my family that I could actually catch a fish. I thought this would really impress them. It wasn't if, but when I would land my fish. I knew they would jump up and down and holler, "Yea, Mom...you did it! You caught a fish!" Larry just rolled his eyes, but finally consented. The kids and I were pumped. We drove in, Larry paid the fee and they handed me a fishing pole. I really played it up how I was going to catch the biggest trout in the tank. They cheered me on, "Go Mom! Show us you can fish!" Confidently, and I might add quite proudly, I walked over to this huge tank that appeared totally black with thousands of trout. We couldn't even see a space between the fish. I announced, "Watch this! TaDa...I'm going to be the queen fisher woman of the day." They chanted, "Go, Mom, go Mom!"

I carefully dropped the pole with the bait into the water. It swooshed on the backs of the fish, and finally found a place to drop into the water. Gleefully I shouted, "Watch, here it goes!" I knew it would only take a minute or less to catch my big trout. But, I kid you not, I stood there swooshing the bait and not one trout went for it or my fishhook. I dragged the bait over their backs, over their heads and even their mouths but to no avail. They acted like I wasn't even there. By this time, my sweet, supportive husband, along with our daughters, LaShawn and LaDawn, were lying on the ground in hysterical laughter. No matter what I tried, or how long I tried ( I don't remember how long it was), I never got one bite! It was so totally unbelievable that I finally fell apart in laughter with them. I pulled my line out of the tank and finally admitted, "Okay, that proves I'm not a fisherman. Let's go!" If I remember correctly, Larry grabbed the pole, lowered the line and a huge trout grabbed the bait in a second. What could I say to that? End of subject!

How in the world did I get onto that subject? I guess I was talking about Spearfish, SD, and the story went on. Now, back to last week...a week ago, Wednesday, on our way out west we stopped by Huron, SD, for a service. Due It was great seeing these youth be a part of the church!to severe thunderstorm warnings we couldn't have our rally in the park as planned so we gathered instead at First Assembly of God with Pastor Tom Brantner. Pastor Tom has been the pastor in Huron for nearly ten years. He definitely looks too young to have been there that long. He's a tenacious young pastor and is doing a great job there. We had three other churches join us for this outreach and we had a wonderful altar call. Wouldn't you know the camera went on the blink just as I was shooting the altar call, so I don't have a picture for you this week. When Pastor Tom introduced us, he told that audience he knew us when he was a kid. Ouch! That hurts! Pastor Tom shared the following with us,

"I remember first being introduced to the Lundstroms about 26 years ago at a rally in Bedford, Pennsylvania. I was about five years old, yet remarkably, I remember it well. Even as a young child, I enjoyed their music and ministry to the family. I even remember meeting them at a Pizza Hut after the rally and Larry with Pastor Tom Brantnergetting autographs from them. From then on, I have always enjoyed the songs and ministry of the Lundstroms. I so appreciate Larry and Gloria and their interaction with the people as well as the 'practical' ways they share their faith through song, testimony and preaching. They have been with us in Huron three times in the nine years we have been here and each time we have had an overwhelming response to their ministry. This past visit brought one brand new salvation and sixteen rededications. Larry and Gloria have a ways of making people comfortable, but speaking the truth straightforward enough that people must choose to accept or reject Christ. Thank you both for your faithfulness to Kingdom building!!!"

It was a joy to have Scott and Sharon Holzemer as our counselors for the rally. They did a great job.  They said this about the rally,

Scott and Sharon Holzemer ministered through counseling at the rally.

"As a member of the Huron First Assembly of God church, I was thrilled to be a part of the prayer team that helped support the Lundstrom's ministry when they visited Huron on June 6th.  I enjoyed God's Word in song and through the many stories and Word they shared.  I especially enjoyed the privilege to pray with those who came forward for salvation and rededication.  It is such a joy to be doing the Lord's work, I hope I'm busy with it the moment He cracks the sky to usher us all home to spend eternity with Him in heaven."

Pastor Dan & Lori Kent...doing great things for God!The next day we moved on through the prairies of SD to Spearfish. Sunday morning we had two services and had wonderful decisions and rededications for Christ. Pastor Dan and Lori Kent are a loving, caring couple that are doing a great job as pastors of Spearfish Assembly of God. They always make us feel like family when we come.

Precious moments with Myanna!

Our granddaughter, Myanna has been with us nearly two weeks and she is so much fun to have along. She's a good helper too. She helps us load in and out. Myanna is good for me! She encourages me to take a few moments here and there to slow down and take a walk, play games, etc.

NEWS BREAK! You aren't going to believe this! As I was writing this, Myanna came to me and said, "Grandma, the bathroom stinks!" I said, "It can't. It's never had a smell. Let me see what's wrong." I opened the door and oooooh, she was right...something was wrong! I told Larry that I was going to put a packet of blue deodorizer powder in the stool. He said, "Sure, that should be okay." I carefully poured in the packet of turquoise blue powder and pushed Major backfire!!!the flush button. I am not sure what happened, but something backfired, and the stool kicked out about 3 or 4 gallons of water back at me! I was blue from head to toe. My blonde hair was sprinkled with big blue blobs, small bits of blue toilet paper plastered my face and my good white top was now all blotched blue along with my yellow slacks. I looked in the mirror at myself in disbelief and looked at the bathroom walls and floor and everything was blue with toilet paper and you name it all over! I hollered, and Larry and Myanna came running. They took one look at me and didn't know whether to laugh at me or save their lives by keeping quiet and helping me clean up. Guess which one they chose? BOTH...once we got it cleaned up, then they laughed! In the midst of this clean-up, Pastor Kent came to the coach and Larry invited him in. The pastor looked at me and after Larry explained what had happened, said with his sweet mischievous grin, "Oh, my my!" Trying to encourage me he continued, "That's a good outfit for Halloween or an Easter egg hunt, blue hair and all!" We all got a chuckle out of that.

In this blue crisis I had to make a quick choice, "Blow up, or clean it up!" I tried to convince myself that it could have been worse. (I don't know how, but I'm sure it could have been. HA!)

As you know by now, life is full of these interruptions. Each situation or event will draw an action or reaction out of us. I had a choice! I could make the already bad situation worse or I could ask God to help me get a grip and move on. It's at those times I have to remember, this is not a matter of life and death. It's just a mere inconvenience. Well, I took a break and I've showered, scrubbed, and powdered myself. I have two scented candles burning and I still smell like bathroom stool deodorizer. Oh well, so it goes.

This weekend we will be speaking in Custer, SD, for Father's Day. I encourage you that if you still have your father, call him, take him out to eat, honor him and tell him how much you love him as you never know how long you will have him with you. One of the ten commandments says to "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long", and I might add, that you'll have no regrets.

Have a great week!

CHUCKLE OF THE WEEK

Dad and the Dehydrated Son

A small boy was sent to bed by his father. About 5 minutes later, he cried out, "Dad..."

"What is it?" asked the father.

"I'm thirsty. Can you bring me a drink of water?"

"No," the man replied. "You had your chance earlier. Lights out!"

About 5 minutes later, the boy moaned, "Dad..."

"What?" the frustrated father answered.

"I'm THIRSTY. Can I have a drink of water?"

"I told you, NO!" the father said. "If you ask me again, I'll have to spank you. Now go to sleep."

Five minutes later, the boy once again whined, "Dad....."

"What!" The man cried.

"When you come to spank me, can you bring me a drink of water?"

POEM OF THE WEEK

Daddy had a little boy,

His soul was white as snow.

He never went to Sunday School

Cause Daddy wouldn't go.

He never heard the Word of God.

That thrills the childish mind,

While other children went to class,

This child was left behind.

As he grew from babe to youth,

Dad saw to his dismay,

A soul that once was snowy white,

Became a dingy grey.

Realizing that his son was lost,

Dad tried to win him back.

But now the soul that once was white,

Had turned an ugly black.

Dad even started back to church,

and Bible study too;

He begged the preacher,

"Isn't there a thing you can do?"

The preacher tried, failed, and said

"We're just too far behind;

I tried to tell you years ago,

But you would pay me no mind."

And so another soul was lost,

That once was white as snow;

Sunday School would have helped,

But Daddy wouldn't go.

We are on the road again! We began our journey last week by going for our annual dental appointments...only it was a bit more involved than I had anticipated. I was scheduled for a skin graft taking skin from the roof of my mouth and grafting into my lower right gumline. Dr. Carlson from Brookings, SD, did a great job. As a result, it has been a long week of liquids, mouth rinses, antibiotics, hot packs, discomforts, as well as a full weekend of ministry, singing and speaking. I praise God...I made it! This past Tuesday, I had the stitches taken out and I am trusting God for a speedy healing.

Gloria speaking on heaven.Last Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Larry and I had the privilege of speaking at the Dakota German Conference which was held at Trinity Bible College in Ellendale, ND. Friday night, we sang and I shared on So What's So Good About Heaven. Saturday morning, we both spoke in a session titled, What Makes You Tick...or Ticked, which focused on personality traits and culture. Saturday night, after our concert, Larry communicated on Passing the Torch, addressing legacies we give and leave for our children. There were also several great breakout sessions presented by several pastors and wives.

Pastor Ryan and Glenda Maxted hosted the conference and did a dynamic job. They are a super-enthused couple and did a superb job. They pastor in Ashley, ND. Pastor Maxted shared the following about the weekend, Pastor Ryan & Glenda Maxted did a great job!

"Larry and Gloria ministered during our regional German District family camp. They did four services over the course of three days, so we really worked them hard. Yet, they never stopped giving. Everything they shared was timely, powerful, and most of all, fun! In each of our services they shared a piece of themselves. They spent time with our group and because of their willingness to 'get close', our people benefitted from their ministry all the more. Our sincere thanks for their hard work."

Another pastoral couple that attended were Matthew and Bridget Darnell. Matthew is a TrinPastor Matthew and Bridget Darnellity Bible College student and also pastors a church and is a father to three beautiful children. They had this to say about the weekend,

"I wanted to express my deepest thanks during the Dakota Conference June 1-3. The time was refreshing and there was a powerful anointing from the Holy Spirit. The time we spent seeking God was mighty for Bridget and I.. We pastor Bethel Assembly of God in Medina, ND. My wife and I needed this time in the Lord to refocus and reexamine our hearts. Bridget and I talked about how God has shaped and refined Larry & Gloria as vessels to do the work of the kingdom. Their joint ministry as a couple is focused on soulwinning and their ministry is life-giving."

Sunday morning, Pastor John and Naomi Brady co-sponsored a soulwinning Pastor John & Naomi Bradyservice. Larry and I have known them for years. In fact, Naomi is from our home town of Sisseton and babysat our daughters, LaShawn and LaDawn, when they were little. They loved her as a babysitter. Wow...as you guessed, that was a long time ago! Pastor John and Naomi have been married for 30 years and are an exceptionally sweet couple who have a great zeal for Christ and are doing a wonderful job pastoring in Ellendale.

We had a precious altar service that morning with several rededicating their lives to Christ. There were a couple of first time decisions. It was the icing on the cake for the weekend!

The Vilhauer Family...camp was a family experience!

One family that attended, the Vilhauer family consisting of Leo & Ruthie Vilhauer, Deon and Renae Vilhauer and their children, Isabella and Delaney, said,

"The conference was a great time of family fellowship.  Our family enjoyed the entire time together!"

Dear friend, Joan Niles, with GloriaThe entire weekend was laced with fun, fellowship, laughter, and delicious food. Special thanks to our friend, Joan Niles, who is the head cook at Trinity Bible College. Every bite was delicious. Thanks, Joan!

We drove back to Sisseton on Sunday night and our granddaughter, Myanna, who is almost nine was anxiously awaiting Grandpa and Grandma. Her uncle, LJ Lundstrom, brought her from Minneapolis to Sisseton. Myanna is joining us on the road for the summer tour. It is always a joy to have our grandchildren with us on the road. Dante' is now 14 ½ years old and has some part-time jobs for the summer so he will be unable to join us this year. He has been with us every summer since he was a baby. It's a little sad that they grow up so quickly, but we will see him off and on this summer.

Larry, Myanna and I are officially on the road today heading to the Black Hills area of South Dakota. We will be ministering in two morning services on Sunday.

Well, I must begin to close this down and nurture my mouth. I had been thinking about the skin graft surgery that I just went through. Having this surgery was definitely not on my WISH LIST, but it was necessary in order to solve a larger problem. I had to put my faith in Dr. Carlson that he knew what was best for me. I kind of whined and fussed when he first told me I needed this procedure, but then I had to accept the fact it was essential and have the minor surgery knowing in time it will get better and will benefit me in the long run.

There are times when God has to do a major or minor spiritual surgery on us. Yes, like me, we whine and complain trying to fight the process, but when we finally yield to what we know is God's best for us allowing him to perform the needed process, in time we will discover it was for the best. The scripture tells us in Hebrews 12:11, "Now no chastening for the present seems to be joyous, but grievous; nevertheless, afterward it yielded the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby." So, as Hebrews says, we look forward to the peaceful fruit of righteousness that will prayerfully spring forth in our lives. I am praying, "God, bring it on!"

Have a great week!

Elderly

While working for an organization that delivers lunches to elderly shut-ins, I used to take my four year old daughter on my afternoon rounds. She was unfailingly intrigued by the various appliances of old age. Particularly, the canes, walkers and wheelchairs. One day I found her staring at a pair of false teeth soaking in a glass. As I braced myself for the inevitable barrage of questions, she merrily turned and whispered, "The tooth fairy will never believe this!"

My mom, Julie, my brother and his wife, Wes and Diane, and GloriaAnother great action-packed week has passed filled with graduation, open houses, family gatherings and Memorial Day activities all wrapped up in three days. It was an emotional weekend. Larry and I are usually on the road for most holidays so we were thrilled to be able to attend two grandnieces' graduation and open houses which brought a large number of family, friends and relatives together. Of course, with those ingredients we also had lots of laughter and lots of delicious food.

From the celebrations and laughter, we then solemnly moved into Memorial Day. We definitely felt the change in mood as we visited the cemetery. Larry and I slowly approached the area of the cemetery that is designated to the military. We were sobered by the growing number of veterans, servicemen and A solemn site...we thank them for their sacrifice!servicewomen headstones representing all ages. Only too often, we get caught up in our busy lives consumed by our jobs and activities forgetting those who have fought and sacrificed their lives so we could have freedom yet in America. I'm afraid our freedom is frequently taken for granted. As Larry and I stood there, we watched families as they stood by their loved ones grave(s). I couldn't help but wonder what was going through their minds at that very moment. What pain they must have felt as they relived the day of their loved one's birth to then only be flooded with the memories of the moment they heard the news of the death of that husband, father, brother, son, wife, mother, daughter, sister, etc. I watched on feeling helpless, wanting to provide comfort but all I could do was pray a silent prayer for them.

We then inched our way down the narrow cemetery road to where my dad is buried. We stood and relived some touching memories of Dad and his antics that so often enteMy only sister...Janetrtained us. From there, we sauntered over to my grandparents' headstones. I recalled all the fun and fond memories I was privileged to have with them while I was a child. Just a few feet away from their headstone lies a small marble marker that bears the name of my one and only sister. I placed pink flowers on her grave and knelt somberly for a few moments. Janet was only one week old when she died of heart problems. She would have been three years older than me. As I have many times before while standing by her little grave, I threw out an inaudible question, "Why, God? Why did she have to die? I would have loved having a sister." I have tried to imagine what she would have looked like, what type of personality she would have had, if she and I would have resembled each other? What and where would her life have taken her? Would she have been as goofy as me? Would we have been close doing things together all through the years?

Only God knows. Mom told me years ago had Janet lived, doctors told her that more than likely she would have been very sick and possibly wheelchair bound. So, I guess I can be thankful that God took her home to spare her from a life of pain and limited abilities. Anyway, some day soon, the Lord will return and we will be reunited. Wow what a day that will be!

Many years ago, I was feeling a bit cheated for not having had a sister and was instead tossed in the middle of ten brothers. God in His sweet way reminded me that I had several wonderful sister-in-laws that are like real sisters to me. Each sister-in-law is special in her own way and I dearly love each one of them.

Our beautiful daughter, LaDawnSandwiched in between all of the above, it was especially fun to have our Our grandkids and granddog...we love them much!daughter, LaDawn, and our grandchildren, Dante' and Myanna, come home for the long weekend. We hadn't seen LaDawn since early January so it was a sweet coming together. Dante' and Myanna loved seeing all of their cousins and relatives. Of course, they also brought the "granddog" along with them. What a circus! Those three days went by only too quickly. Now...it's back to work!

I spent most of this morning calling friends and partners who are going through some deep heartbreaking valleys. The prayer requests span from a small boy diagnosed with leukemia, following up on a young lady who was in a car accident a few weeks ago, to a dear friend dying of cancer, and another friend who is going into the hospital to get a hole in his heart patched plus prayer for a precious sister-in-law who is battling cancer. It seems like almost everyone we talk to is facing some valley or trial in their lives. The bible encourages in James 5:16, "Pray for each other so that you may be healed". Each one of us at this very moment can name someone who is desperate for a touch from God. It is our privilege and duty to call or contact them so we might pray with them. They need to know someone cares for them. A card, letter, or phone call may be the very thing that will pull them through another painful day. Let me challenge you...after you finish reading this and God brings someone to your mind, take the time to contact them. You will be blessed! Have a great week!

RECIPE OF THE WEEK

Here's a delicious tried and true rhubarb recipe given to me from a partner, JPicking some rhubarb with my sister-in-law, Dianeoan Clutter, in Clarion, PA. I've made it and it is scrumptious!

Rhubarb Pie

3 cups rhubarb, cut up

2 eggs

1 1/4 cup sugar

3-4 Tbsp flour

HOUSEHOLD HINT OF THE WEEK

Beat Batter Spatter

To prevent spattering when mixing liquids or batter, punch two holes in the center of a paper plate and push beaters through to form a lid over the bowl.

OUCH! Does your calendar look like ours? Yes, I am sure most of you can identify. I always plan my days but they never go as planned! HA!

Somehow through the years, I hoped that when I came off the road, I could just putz around doing just the things that I enjoy. My dream bubble burst however, when all of the "have-to's" escalated to the top of my to-do list successfully bumping my "want-to's" further and further down the list. Several years ago, I was kind of whining and expressing this disappointment to a friend. She tossed back her blonde hair, placed her hands on her hips, and sarcastically, yet humorously, said, "Why do you think you should be able to come home and do nothing when everyone I know including ME can't? We even live at home all the time!"

Wow! What a stern slap that was for me. I guess I needed to hear that realistically only a chosen few are afforded that luxury. In my mind, I thought that those who live at home day in and day out would be more organized than me allowing them to be caught up on their work so they would have an abundance of playtime. Was I ever wrong?! Now, the older I get, the longer it takes for me to get anything done. When I get up in the morning, my head says, "Let's go!" My hearts says, "Yeah...let's do it!" My body, on the other hand, often wants to reject both the head and the heart. HA! I like the old bumper sticker that says, "I owe, I owe so off to work I go."

Work has begun!A year ago, Larry and I marked our May 2007 calendar designating May 21-25 as a work week on the house. It is amazing to me that things fall apart even when we are gone. So, this week, we have six dear friends from Nebraska and Minnesota who set aside five Lois Wilmer, Jeri Naber, & Sharon Sundvall---helping with some painting!days to come help us work and repair. The list for these five days includes: fix the leaky roof, tear down and replace the dissolving chimney, painting, bulldozing over half of our lawn to reroute the flow of water contributing to our water issues, tear out some bushes and a tree that were ruined by an ice storm a year ago. Well that about sums it up! Those tasks are what is on the slate for five days along with the urgents of the ministry.

Working outside in the rain and heat!Last night, after we came in, we were feeling our consecutive 13-hour days. We all collapsed as we sat around the table and agreed that we just aren't as young as we used to be. Much of the work done yesterday was done in drenching outbursts of rain and stifling heat. (The weather forecast predicted a few possible thundershowers.) At one point, during a heavy rain squall, I peereWorking on new chimneyd up on the roof and three of the men had made a tent out of heavy plastic holding it over the chimney opening. All I could see was Larry's backside protruding outside of the tent with rain literally running off it. Sorry, but I just laughed out of control because I thought it just couldn't happen to a nicer guy! Isn't it great how God allows us moments of laughter amidst detours in our planned schedules!

Right now, I am safely tucked away in my writing chair to compose this update. It looks rough before it gets better!Out of the window, I can see all of the progress that has taken place up to this point. In all reality, it appears a demolition crew was just here with the way it is all tore up. Iit almost takes my breath away. My mother used to often say, "Missy, sometimes things have to look worse before they get better." It is really true in this case. At this stage, I have to encourage myself that this too shall pass. It will get better; I have full confidence in that fact. Believe me, it won't be done in five days but we will have accomplished a lot with the generous assistance of our wonderful friends.

Sometimes, spiritually speaking, our lives can be a lot like our house and lawn project. We float along in life without really realizing that things start falling apart. Our crisis comes along, sometimes gradually wearing things away, and other times WHAM! immediately everything falls apart whether it be our relationships, marriage, health, prodigal children, finances, etc.

We realize that in spite of the detours or destruction in our lives, we have to cry out to God for help. Sometimes when I first cry out, it seems like things get worse instead of better. It is then that God bids me, "Casting all your care upon Him" (1 Peter 5:7). I know He is my only source. At that moment, I can't look at the now, it's too devastating. I have to willfully submit it to God, pray and expect a miracle answer. It is hope in Him that gives me hope!

I don't know what you may be facing today. It may be nothing, but more than likely, it's a something! I encourage you now to give it to God. He's waiting to carry you through.

I pray you will have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend and that you will thank God for the hope we have beyond this life.

FROM THE E-MAIL INBOX...

Dear Larry and Gloria,

It was so nice seeing you both at Wagner, SD, a couple weeks ago. When you sang some of the Lundstrom songs, it brought back a lot of memories spanning some 35 years. We always enjoy having you in our home and always went to hear you sing and preach. When our son, Rick, was 3 years old (now 37) he would play and sing all the Lundstrom songs on his little plastic stringed guitar. I believe that was a vital part of getting God's word into him at a young age.

Gene and I are member of the Christian Motorcycle Association. We feel God has called us to go and preach the Gospel to the bikers and prisoners. This has been a ministry which has definitely stretched our comfort zone but we have seen God do some awesome things. Many lives are being changed for eternity.

Both of you have been such an inspiration to us. We have seen your faithfulness in sharing the good news of Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world. So many lives have been touched through your ministry. We love you both and we pray God's richest blessings on you and your family.

THOUGHT OF THE WEEK

We all need a Troubles Tree...

I hired a plumber to help me restore an old farmhouse,
and after he had just finished a rough first day on the job: a flattire made him lose an hour of work, his electric drill quit, and his ancient oneton truck refused to start.

While I drove him home, he sat in stony silence. On
arriving, he invited me in to meet his family. As we walked toward thefront door, he paused briefly at a small tree, touching the tips of the
branches with both hands.

When opening the door he underwent an amazing
transformation. His face was wreathed in smiles and he hugged his two small
children and gave his wife a kiss.

Afterward he walked me to the car. We passed the tree
and my curiosity gotthe better of me. I asked him about what I had seen
him do earlier.
"Oh, that's my trouble tree," he replied "I know I
can't help havingtroubles on the job, but one thing's for sure, thosetroubles don't belong in the house with my wife and the children...So I just hang them up on the tree every night when I come home and ask God totake care of them. Then in the morning I pick them up again." "Funny thingis," he smiled," when I comeout in the morning to pick 'em up, there aren't nearlyas many as I rememberhanging up the night before."

Love Ranch?

For extra flavor on fried chicken, dip the pieces in ranch dressing instead of milk before coating with breadcrumbs!

Another action-packed week is now history! It is so good to be home! We are busy, busy, busy but it is truly wonderful. We were tickled pink to have our two grandchildren, Dante' and Myanna, come and spend a week with Grandpa and Grandma while their mommy, LaDawn, took a long overdue getaway with her sister, LaShawn. They flew up to Toronto, Canada, to see their brother, Donovan, and LaShawn's fiancé, Liam, for six days. Even with their crazy schedules, we encourage the siblings to try and breakaway in order to spend a few days together a couple times a year. It's important for them to keep in touch!

Another action-packed week is now history! It is so good to be home! We are busy, busy, busy but it is truly wonderful. We were tickled pink to have our two grandchildren, Dante' and Myanna, come and spend a week with Grandpa and Grandma while their mommy, LaDawn, took a long overdue getaway with LaDawn, Donovan & LaShawn-the best of buds!her sister, LaShawn. When they were younger going through their teen years, I encouraged them to concentrate on building bridges and close relationships with each other. I would tell them, "Just remember this, all your friends will come and go...but keep close to siblings because some day you will need each other...and that's when you want family there for you." There is nothing like a family bond to share in the good times and with which to tide the storms of life. Anyway, the kids called from Toronto and told us they had a wonderful time together. It was music to our ears!

Meanwhile back in South Dakota, we thoroughly enjoyed the Myanna, Dante' & Paris-they bring us such joy!grandkids...ohhhh...and the new grand-dog named Paris. (Can you imagine a black pug names Paris?-chuckle) She brought with her a whole new form of entertainment. Of course, I told the kids before they came, "The dog stays outside or in the entryway!" They just couldn't believe that Grandma could be so heartless not allowing the dog the rule of the house. I have been through that game twice before with my kids and it didn't work. HA! I do have to admit, however, the grand-dog stole our hearts as well.

Padtor Vern & Mary DonnellWe had a great Mother's Day weekend. I had the privilege of speaking on Mother's Day at our home church in Sisseton, SD, with Pastor Vern and Mary Donnell. We are so blessed to have a wonderful sweet-spirited pastor and wife who are great people of prayer and have a burden to reach the lost. We were especially honored to have my 91 ½ year old mother, Julie Brooks, there. I had the opportunity to publicly and personally honor her along with all mothers on that special day. It was indeed a precious time.

Just before I spoke, the church had a three generation family of four sing aWe were blessed by this three generation singing group! song. It was so special! Julia Hills, (grandmother) 90 years old sang along with her daughter, Gloria Slaamot (secretary of our home church), and her two daughters, April and Holly. Grandma Hills still has a strong singing voice. WOW! She encouraged me to keep on singing! It was precious to see this three generation family singing together.

Gloria speaking on Mother's DayGloria Slaamot shared the following: "First of all, I appreciate the graciousness of Gloria to allow us to sing our three generation trio that morning. Mom just turned 90 in April and I thought it would be fun to sing together on Mother's Day. I didn't want to get in the way of what Gloria had planned for that morning but when I called her, she was so very sweet and said it would be fine. Like Gloria said in the service, what a heritage some of us have in regards to having Godly mothers who helped us find our way to God. I love the fact that Gloria is so 'REAL', letting us know that she and Larry go through struggles, too, but with God's help, they make it encouraging us to do the same! They are always a blessing and we love them dearly!"

I was blessed to have my grandkids with me on Mother's Day!I missed not having my son and daughteLarry and Dante' out for a ride.rs with me for Mother's Day but I was so happy to have my grandkids and some of my family. After church, three of my brothers, along with Larry and I, grilled chicken and had all the yummy trimmings to Myanna and Zach enjoying the horses!go with it. To top off the day, Larry took Dante' and Myanna out to the Lundstrom farm to ride horses with our nephew, L. J. Lundstrom and little Zach. The kids were ecstatic!

Monday morning, Dante' and Myanna packed up all their stuff and we motored off to St. Cloud, MN, for the annual Larry Lundstrom Ministries board meeting. Afterwards, our friends, Doug and Deb Jones, took Dante', Myanna and the dog back to Apple Valley, MN, to see their mom. They were anxious to get back home to her.

Just before we left Sisseton on Monday morning, the grandkids took Paris outside for a walk on the lawn. Just than a Senior Community transit bus was coming down the hill by our house. Quicker than the blink of an eye, Paris lunged out of Dante's arms and ran after the bus. She took off like it was the Indy 500 race. In a panic, Dante' dashed after her tackling their dog before she got run over. A look of panic appeared on Dante's face as he tried to discipline her for taking off. He looked at me and said, "Oh, Grandma, Paris makes me so mad when she doesn't mind me. When I call her, she won't come." I chuckled, "I know the feeling. We went through that when you were a toddler."

Until a certain age and stage, a child has no fear which is why we, parents, have to discipline and teach them of the dangers in life. If we let them run wild not addressing the issues of life that God wants us to, they will be run over spiritually, emotionally and physically. John 10:10 says, "...the devil is out to kill, steal and destroy", and that means our families as well. God has given us a responsibility to raise our children and grandchildren in the fear and admonition of the Lord. The Bible says in Proverbs 13:24, "He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is careful to discipline him." God's intention and instruction to us as parents is to lead and instruct in order to save them from worse dangers and consequences due to their own free will resulting in eternal damnation.

Yes, we, parents and grandparents, have a great mission field and responsibility for this generation. It is Larry's and my prayer that we can have a godly influence on our children and grandchildren.

Well, it's time to run. Have a great week!

Gloria

CHUCKLE OF THE WEEK

An elderly woman walked into the local country church. The friendly usher greeted her at the door and helped her up the steps. "Where would you like to sit?" he asked politely.

"The front row please," she answered.

"You really don't want to do that," the usher said. "The pastor is really boring."

"Do you happen to know who I am?" the woman inquired.

"No," he said.

"I am the pastor's mother," she replied indignantly.

"Do you know who I am?" he asked.

"No," she said.

"Good," he answered.

Refrigerator Odors

You can always use the standby of baking soda in your refrigerator for odors, but you can also try a little vanilla on a cotton ball to give it a fresh scent.
