It's a beautiful sunny, Florida day! Coming from the frigid Midwest, Larry and I don't take this nice weather for granted. Last week we had a wonderful Sunday morning service at New Hope Church in Winter Haven, FL with Pastor Dennis and Delma Gipson. We've been coming to this church nearly every 2 years since about 1995. The church continues to grow with lots of children, teenagers, and young couples. When Pastor Dennis introduced us he said, "Larry and Gloria Lundstrom really don't need an introduction…when they are in the area I always invite them to come to our church because I know they will give a clear salvation message and an altar call."

It's a beautiful sunny, Florida day! Coming from the frigid Midwest, Larry and I don't take this nice weather for granted.

Last week we had a wonderRev. Dennis & Delma Gipsonful Sunday morning service at New Hope Church in Winter Haven, FL with Pastor Dennis and Delma Gipson.

Altar call at New Hope Church, Winter Haven, FL

Twenty three responded to make Jesus the Lord of their lives.

We were thrilled by the number of teens that came forward to receive Christ! They need our prayers!

Among those were several teenagers. In this world of peer pressure and struggles, we are always thrilled to see teens moved by God and step forward to pray that prayer that will impact their lives forever. They definitely need our continued fervent prayers.

It is three years ago this week that Larry fell off the top of our motor home, hitting the steel ladder and knocking me off the 3rd step I was standing on. As he fell that 12 feet, causing the ladder and I to go flying as well, the steel ladder came down like an axe and literally amputated my right foot. As many of you know, because of many miracles and by the grace of God, my foot was reattached. After 10 months of therapy and learning to walk again, I've been "on the run" - ha! Almost 3 years later, every place we go I'm asked, "How's your foot?" I respond, "Praise God - every time I look down…it's still there!" Then they ask, "Does it hurt?" I tell them, "Oh yes…but doesn't everybody have an owie of some sort?" (chuckle) I walk a lot to keep it moving, which also keeps Larry walking with me - that's good.

On this 3rd anniversary, looking back, I'm so thankful to God that I have my foot, and that I can literally "go" and share the gospel. Every time I look at the scar I'm reminded of God's faithfulness. I love the verse in Lamentations 3, "Great is thy faithfulness, thy compassions fail not, they are new every morning." That particular verse is life and strength to me in all situations.

Larry and I have learned never to take for granted each breath and each day. Waking up together is a great gift from God.

This Saturday, Larry and I fly to Houston, TX to attend a Mission's Conference. We're anxious for that. We pray that you will have a wonderful week, remember that God loves you (and Larry and I do too)!

Gloria

Cure for Arthritis

Doctor Bloomfield, who was known for miraculous cures for arthritis, had a waiting room full of people when a little old lady, completely bent over in half, shuffled in slowly, leaning on her cane. When her turn came, she went into the doctor's office, and, amazingly, emerged within 5 minutes walking completely erect with her head held high.

A woman in the waiting room who had seen all this walked up to the little old lady and said, "It's a miracle! You walked in bent in half and now you're walking erect. What did that doctor do?"

"Gave me a longer cane!"

PIC OF THE WEEK

Snow in Florida???

"Can you believe this! In Winter Haven, FL they trucked in loads of man-made snow. I told some of the people, "You need to go to the Midwest, you'd get all this free! You'd also get the frigid temperatures so it would last longer and you could really feel it." We were entertained watching these people having snowball fights in shorts."

RECIPE

Brunch Fruit Salad

1 (20 oz) can pineapple chunks or tidbits, drained

3 oranges

3 Tbsp cornstarch

½ cup sugar

Strawberries, red and green grapes, kiwi, bananas

Mix pineapple with juice and peeled orange sections cut up with ½ cup sugar. Let set overnight. In the morning drain juice. Add the cornstarch to the juice and cook until very thick. Let cool. Cut up the fruit and mix with cooled sauce. Add the bananas just before serving. Refrigerate two hours and serve.

We know it is a little early for hanging baskets...but spring is coming!

To avoid spillage and messing up the arrangement in a hanging basket use an oven (turkey) baster. You can do this with indoor plants as well.

Valentine's Day is almost here. Every year when this time comes, it takes me back to when Larry and I were in our "dating days". Yea….I know… that was waaaaaaaay back! Regardless, I vividly remember our first date, our first kiss, and our first Valentine's Day together as a married couple in February of 1966 in the state of Texas. We were young newlyweds and we were just beginning our hearts' journey.

We have been blessed to have celebrated 43 Valentine's Days together and we pray that God will allow us many, many more. I learned long ago that what drew us together was passion---but what has kept us together all of these years is compassion.

In these days of castaway marriages and a divorce rate that is reaching catastrophic proportions, we know that our marriage has braved the storms of life because we are fused with God.

I felt like I wanted to share an old article of Larry's with you that is so fitting during this time:

Speaking From My Heart

"Marriage can be a real hassle! Yes, Gloria and I love each other; but at the same time, marriage puts pressures and limits on two people that can cause friction, fraction and uncalled-for reactions. If you don't believe me, ask my wife! Too often I throw my clothes all over, mess up her clean room, dirty the sink or rip my new slacks. Sometimes, when she is trying to have a conversation with me, my mind wanders off a thousand miles away. I have earned the nickname "space cadet" by our teenage daughters because sometimes I'm not present in mind, only in body.

Then there are times when I feel frustrated by my wife because there is a button missing on my good shirt that I have "politely" reminded her of the last six times I've worn it. So, I am scavenging all over the bus, looking for a safety pin to pin it, hoping it won't snap open while I am preaching and puncture my neck.

Sometimes I fume, "How can you remember to buy everything you need when you go shopping and forget the shaving cream I have been out of for three days, making do with a bar of soap that leaves my face dry, cut and irritated?" Another time I might become exasperated because she has forgotten to make the deposit to cover the bills.

Gloria and I are still one of the happiest married couples I know…in spite of the fact that when we were married, it meant dividing our time, money, privacy, house, car and vacation by half. Marriage is probably more demanding than any other relationship.

If you wanted to dissolve your marriage, all you would have to do is focus on all of your differences and irritations. Instead of doing that, you can choose to focus on the good points. Some days, when everything seems to go wrong, you may need a magnifying glass to find the good in each other-those times when you are tempted to nag, condemn, or accuse. Does it sound like I have visited your house?

Now that I have been honest, you are thinking, "They must not be happily married." You're wrong! We are very happily married! Let me explain. Being married is not hard. It is living together that becomes strained! Even though we may disagree or nag occasionally, we love being together. We enjoy dating each other. We enjoy raising our children. We love communicating. If I could choose anyone to have fun with, work with, vacation with or have lunch with, Gloria is the first one who comes to my mind. Gloria is not only my wife, she is my best friend, and I would not trade our relationship for anything in the world.

The two verses that have given our marriage special meaning, happiness and completion are found in Ephesians 5. Verse 22 says, "Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord." The Word of God gives husbands a key in verse 25: "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it." If Gloria and I keep our commitment to Christ fresh, loving and respecting Him, that same kind of commitment automatically overflows into our relationship with each other. Our commitment, love and respect for each other fall in line, adding up to a happy, blessed, and successful (not perfect), working marriage."

In those days

In those days the words "I love you, honey," were said with fifty different inflections and meant fifty different things.

- They could have meant thank you for opening the catsup bottle,

even though you said that I had loosened it first.

- Or I enjoy our talks when you come home from work

and there's just the two of us to share and dream.

- Or imply that I appreciate all those things that make up you:

your sensitive strength, the way you smile me off my soapbox,

or the way that you pretend you are listening when you read the paper.

But somewhere along the way we turned and instead of floating with the current, we now struggle against it.

- It wasn't one action, or one word, but a series of little

unresolved spats and quarrels that now make the TV the solution

to the problems of a hard day and silences us when we should

say "Thank you" or "You really look nice today."

- Today, I no longer tell you that I love you because the sound

of those words mocks the special meaning that they carried

when we were first wed. And it is too painful to remember

that those feelings we said we would never lose were, tear by tear, left in the past.

-Deborah Jean Morris (from Charles Swindoll's book Strike the Original Match)

"If your marriage is feeling strains and pressures that you are not prepared for, go back to your first love, Jesus Christ. Recommit your life to Him. Then recommit your mate and marriage to Him, and you will begin a new adventure in your marriage relationship. If you will pray and play together, your marriage will stay together."

Happy Valentine's Day!

Gloria

Greetings from Florida! How blessed we are to be in a nice warm climate right now. The sun is shining, the palm trees are waving gently in the breeze and we are soaking in the 81 degree temperature. The setting is quite different than when we wrote the last "On the Road" report from South Dakota a few weeks back.

Just before leaving on tour, I was visiting with my mother and my brother, Bill. He inquired as to where we were going and I told him we were traveling to Florida. Bill chuckled, "Hey Sister, how come is it that when South Dakota gets a blizzard, Arctic temperatures and blowing snow, you take off to a warm climate? Aren't there people here that need Jesus too?" Without the least bit of hesitation I responded, "Yes, Bill, there are people here that need the Lord...but in the winter they are 'frozen'!" I continued, "We have to go to where they are thawed out so they can understand the message and respond to the altar call." We both chuckled-but it is almost true-it was 38 degrees below zero with over a 50 below zero wind chill when we left Sisseton. I think you would agree it is frigid and if people have to make a choice of whether to stay home where it is nice and cozy or go out braving an Arctic blast....well, we both know what that choice might be.

When we arrived in Florida, one of the first things we did was to seek out a fruit and vegetable market atoranges galore! the edge of an orange grove. We delighted ourselves in buying a large bag of oranges and a half-flat of huge, delicious strawberries. Yummy! As we walked into the market, we were faced with bins and bins of oranges with at least 8-10 different varieties represented.

Larry piped up, "I would like some navel oranges...real sweet ones...they're my favorite!" To Larry's dismay, the manager told him, "The season for navels is about over so I am out of them today." The look on Larry and his beloved orangesLarry's face reflected his deep disappointment in learning this news. Almost drooling for a juicy orange, Larry probed again, "Well, which of these other ones are the best?" The manager pointed at hundreds and hundreds of oranges, "Well, I think the best way to answer your question is to let you taste them." By this time, Larry's saliva glands were dancing and he readily agreed, "Good idea!" The manager proceeded to slice up four oranges and one by one, Larry gleefully sampled them. He would raise his eyebrows and smile after each taste. Then the manager announced, "If you like something really sweet and juicy, try this Honeybell orange." Larry took a bite and as the juice dripped out of it, he gave the manager a thumb's up sign and quipped, "Yes, this is it! Gloria, try it." The taste sold us both! Larry proclaimed, "I want a big bag of these! SOLD!"

The taste test made the sale. This market story reminds me of the Gospel. In today's world, people are desperately looking for something to satisfy them. They think of the "navel" as money, grand homes, lavish cars, closets of clothes, luxury boats, and self-perceived success. In the search for happiness, they are finding all of these material things are great, but they keep seeking for something to satisfy the longing and void that still remains despite their attempts to quench it. As believers, you and I know that all of these earthly things are seasonal...they only last for a season of desire and want. Psalm 34:8 declares, "Oh taste and see that the Lord is good!" In this ever-changing world of erratic and unpredictable events, that verse stands as truth. Once you give your heart to Jesus, by tasting that Honeybell orange (salvation), you too would say, "Yes, this is it. SOLD! This truly satisfies my hunger and desire." If you haven't tried Jesus, call out to Him today...you will find the peace, joy and satisfaction you are looking for.

Have a great day! We'll talk again in a few weeks!

First Time Rider

A lady decides to try horseback riding, even though she has had no lessons or prior experience.

She mounts the horse unassisted and the horse immediately springs into motion.  It gallops along at a steady and rhythmic pace, but the lady begins to slip from the saddle.  In terror, she grabs for the horse's mane, but cannot seem to get a firm grip.  She tries to throw her arms around the horse's neck, but she slides down the side of the horse anyway.  The horse gallops along, seemingly ignorant of its slipping rider.  Finally, giving up her frail grip, the lady attempts to leap away from the horse and throw herself to safety.  Unfortunately, her foot becomes entangled in the stirrup, and she is now at the mercy of the horse's pounding hooves as her head is struck against the ground over and over.

As her head is battered against the ground, she is mere moments away from unconsciousness when to her great fortune, Bobby, the Walmart greeter, sees her and unplugs the horse.

Happy New Year… blessings on you! The curtain of 2008 has dropped and 2009 is ahead of us with all its joys and challenges.

December rushed by so quickly. On January 1st I began to de-Christmas the house. That was emotional. We prepare, decorate, bake, wrap gifts, cook, and BOOM, Christmas comes before we are ready and is over before we are ready.

We were so delighted that our family all made it home. It was a long trek for our daughter LaShawn her husband Liam and our son Donovan driving in from Nashville, TN. LaShawn and Liam arrived on Dec. 21st, Donovan left Nashville on Dec. 23rd and drove for 26 hours through snow blizzards and sub-zero All of us together!temps. He got held up in traffic on the interstate due to accidents. They all made it home safely. Children and traveling sure keeps Mom and Dad praying! LaDawn and the grandkids arrived on Dec. 24th, just a couple hours earlier than Donovan. That's about as close to Christmas Eve as you can get!

As our tradition goes, we went up to my mothers, Julie Brook's, for potluck dinner and watched her open her gifts and read the Christmas story. There were 15 of us there. She has had 93 Christmases, what a blessing for the family.

me and the girlsAfter that we went back to our home and opened some gifts. What a joy it was for Larry and I to hear all the laughter, sibling stories, and giggles from the grandchildren. The house was alive until about 2am. We played games and snacked, etc. We were all so tired, but no one wanted to miss out on one moment of Christmas.

Christmas morning we all gathered in the living room clad in our pajamas and opened a couple more gifts. We have this thing in our family. Through the years, traveling and evangelism, we were always on the road until just before Christmas and then we'd be home for about a week and a half. Our children so looked forward to Christmas and being home. They dreaded to have Christmas rush by so quickly, so we always spread it out as long as we could and still do. We open a gift here and there, play games, hide some gifts for the grandkids, do gag gifts and just have a hilarious time full of laughter. On Christmas day afternoon we had our turkey dinner and then nestled All of us at the bowling alleyaround the fireplace and watched old videos of the children when they were young. What a precious time. On Friday after Christmas we had a Larry Lundstrom family bowling party. We were the only ones in the bowling alley. What fun! Of course, I was the overseer, I watched everyone else bowl and my excuse was that I didn't want to show them up. (Actually, since my leg injury 3 years ago, I am still unable to do a few things.)

Saturday came all too soon and they all began to pack and head out the door. First LaShawn and Liam headed out for Nashville and I choked up a bit as we prayed together and sent them on their way. A couple hours later, Donovan packed his car. We hugged and prayed and again I got very emotional. We sure miss Grandpa Larry and Myannaour son. I didn't want to let him go, but away he went. A couple hours later, LaDawn and Dante packed the car and off they went. I walked back into the living room and the silence was defining. All the laughter, giggles, and hustle and bustle was gone - it was total silence. Except we got to keep our granddaughter Myanna with us for 6 more days. She kept the sparkle going and really soothed our hearts.

December 29th we dove into our piles of office work again, back to business as usual!

Last Saturday, Jan 3rd, Larry was invited to minister at a Men's Prayer Breakfast at his brother Lowell's church (Celebration) in Lakeville, MN. It was a great turnout and there were 24 that made decisions and 6 were first-time commitments. There were lots of prodigals that returned home.

Also, Larry enjoyed being able to spend a little time with his two brothers, Leon and Lowell

.

We are now packing for the next tour and will be flying out January 14th to Florida where we will start our ministry tour. We look forward to a warm climate after this unusual winter of blizzards and sub-zero temps. Larry's ready to put the snow shovel down and pick up his Bible to get to preaching again.

As this new year begins, it is our prayer that God will give us a new passion to preach, and a new passion for the lost and hurting. We are believing God for a great year of ministry. We appreciate you following along with the On the Road updates. Your friendship means so much. Happy New Year! We will talk to you in a couple weeks from Florida

Dear Lord, please give me...

A few friends who understand me

and yet remain my friends

A work to do which has real value,

without which the world

would feel the poorer...

A mind unafraid to travel,

even though the trail be not blazed

An understanding heart...

A sense of humor.

Time for quiet, silent meditation.

A feeling of the presence of God.

And the patience to wait

for the coming of these things,

with the wisdom to know them

when they come.

The New Years - Starting a new diet again?

"One thing is certain - more people are going on diets tomorrow than today."

----------------------------------

A Sunday School teacher began her lesson with a question, "Boys and girls, what do we know about God?"

A hand shot up in the air. "He's an artist!" said the kindergarten boy.

"Really? How do you know?" the teacher asked.

"You know - 'Our Father, who does art in heaven..."

A minister walked in line to have his car filled with gas just before a long holiday weekend. The attendant worked quickly, but there were many cars ahead of him in front of the service station. Finally, the attendant motioned him toward a vacant pump.

"Reverend," said the young man, "sorry about the delay. It seems as if everyone waits until the last minute to get ready for a long trip."

The minister chuckled, "I know what you mean. It's the same in my business."

RECIPE

White Fudge

4 ½ cups sugar                               1 tsp. vanilla

½ lb. butter or margarine           2/3 cup sweetened condensed milk

1 cup sour cream                          1 (7 oz.) jar marshmallow creme

1 cup chopped nuts

Boil together about 12 minutes. Take from heat and add nuts and marshmallow creme. Beat 2 minutes and put in 9x13 pan. Cut into pieces when cool.

Don't want to spend a lot time on oven cleaning? Place ammonia (about 1 cup) in an aluminum pie pan and place it in the oven overnight. In the morning, simply remove the pan and wipe the oven clean with a damp sponge. If you do this often (about once a month) you won't have to spend money on harmful chemicals to do the job.

We have just passed Thanksgiving and the Christmas season is now in full swing. The month of December will whiz by with all of its Christmas festivities.

Speaking of events and festivities, Larry and I made a trip to Minneapolis to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday. We, along with our daughter, LaDawn and grandchildren, Dante' and Myanna, were invited to Larry's brother and wife, Brent, Londa & ConnorLowell and Connie's home. There is nothing like family gatherings. Larry was able to be with his two brothers, Leon and Lowell, and their families.  Talk about food, fun and fellowship....we experienced it all! It was great fun!

Myanna

On Saturday, we were privileged to attend Celebration's (Lowell's church in Lakeville, MN) Country Christmas production.  Our granddaughter, Myanna, is involved in the Myanna in the showshow.  About 9,000 people are expected to attend this special Christmas event. About 15 of the Lundstrom family are involved. Myanna loves being with all of her cousins.

Gloria, Marilyn and Connie

While attending the Country Christmas show, I also had quite a surprise.  I was able to see Marilyn Phillips from Kingsford, MI.  She was a Physical Education teacher in 5th grade in Sisseton, SD to Connie and I.  She is as sweet as ever!

During our time in the Cities, we also celebrated Dante's 16th birthday which is on December 4th.     Dante' and Grandpa Larry got all dressed up in warm clothes to go snow tubing on Buck Hill. They arrived and then were disappointed as they learned the hill was closed for the day. They thought about Dante'snow skiing but decided against it. Both the boys were disappointed, but they decided to go bowling instead. Maybe it was a blessing in disguise....Larry....on a tube...on a steep hill....hmmmm...I don't know about that! I really didn't want him to end up in a body cast anyway. HA!  Dante' is working at Culver's currently.  With a twinkle in his eye, he told me the other day, "Grandma, I want you to know that I Dante' doing a birthday skate!paid 87 cents out of my paycheck for your Medicare!"  I chuckled and said, "That's good…I know you will always take care of me!"

We topped off Dante's birthday with Mexican food and ice skating in St Paul. They had a blast. This was such a fun weekend...being on the road most of the year, we miss many of the holiday gatherings and events the grandchildren are involved in. So, this was really a special time for all of us!

We are now back at home, working out of our Sisseton office, looking at a full plate of office work again. But, oh, how refreshed we feel after that wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. December is usually the busiest office and mail month so we hunker down and try to keep up (or play catch-up) with the influx of mail.

On December 21st, our family will be coming home from Nashville and Minneapolis for 4-5 days. We look forward to this special time all year long. We love the laughter, story telling (especially between the siblings)....my, oh my, what hilarity! I prepare a few of their favorite meals, play a lot of games and just enjoy spending time together...as a family.

With the busyness of the Christmas season, we can easily get caught up in the "to-do" lists...at least I do. We can easily get overwhelmed by it all! I am in the midst of preaching to myself....I am realizing I am not 30 anymore, I'm not 40, I'm not 50, or even 60. I can't do it all...I can't make it all...I can't attend every event....I simply need to be still for some moments to know and feel His presence and peace for which is the reason for this season.

Having said all that, I will give "On the Road" a break until the first of January as we will not be "On the Road". The 1st of January, we will update you with photos of our family, celebrations, etc.

It is our prayer that you will bask in the presence of Jesus and that you will experience the joy, peace and comfort for which the Christ child was born. Enjoy your family, express your love for them, forgive any offenses and move forward in the love of Christ. Have a blessed and peaceful Christmas!

PS.  Here is a special Christmas poem that I ran across and wanted to share with you, our friends...

I Said a Christmas Prayer for You...

I said a Christmas prayer for you

Because the season's near.

I didn't ask for riches

But for gifts so much more dear.

I asked for joyful gatherings

With your family all around

And for carols to inspire you

With their old familiar sound.

I asked for quiet moments

In your heart on Christmas morn,

For a special time to celebrate

The Savior who was born.

I asked for friends to send their best

That you might know they care;

I asked for peace, love and hope

And I know God heard my prayer.

12 Days of Christmas

What in the world do leaping lords, French hens, swimming swans, and especially the partridge in a pear tree have to do with Christmas? From 1558 to 1829, Roman Catholics in England were not permitted to practice their faith openly. Someone during that era wrote this carol as a catechism song for the young Catholics. It has two levels of meaning plus a hidden meaning known only to the members of their church. Each element in the carol has a code word for a religious reality which the children could remember.

1. The partridge in a pear tree was Jesus Christ.

2. Two turtle doves were the Old and New Testaments

3. Three French hens stood for faith, hope and love.

4. The four calling birds were the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

5. The five golden rings recalled the Torah or Law, the first five books of the Bible.

6. The six geese-a-laying stood for the six days of creating.

7. Seven swans-a-swimming represented the sevenfold gifts of the Holy Spirit - Prophesy, Serving, Teaching, Exhortation, Contribution, Leadership and Mercy.

8. The eight maids-a-milking were the eight beatitudes

9. Nine ladies dancing were the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit - Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self Control.

10. The 10 lords-a-leaping were the 10 Commandments.

11. The 11 pipers piping stood for the 11 faithful disciples.

12. The 12 drummers drumming symbolized the 12 points of belief in the Apostles' Creed.

So, there's your history lesson for today. Now we know how that strange song became a Christmas Carol!

Brrr! It's a cold windy day! One week ago we were in Orlando, Florida. The temperature was a balmy 81 degrees. A church in Winter Haven was so gracious to allow us to park our motor home there until we return in January to begin services in Florida. The morning we flew out, the birds were singing, flowers were in full bloom, and there was a clear blue sky with the sun's brilliant rays shining down. While loading the last suitcase in the car, I told Larry, "Honey, do we really want to go back to the Midwest leaving this beautiful weather?" We both chuckled, "No, but we are going. Only family could bid us back!"

Brrr! It's a cold windy day! One week ago we were in Orlando, Florida. The temperature was a balmy 81 degrees.

We flew into Minneapolis and spent a couple of days with our daughter, LaDawn, and our grandchildren, Dante' and Myanna. We then drove on home to Sisseton. The temperature now...17 degrees. What a chilling wake-up call to the reality of South Dakota winters. Thankfully, our area escaped the huge blizzard that Donovan and Larry in Nashvilleshut-down much of our state a couple of weeks ago. It is good to be home and settled in! We will be working in our home office and will definitely be kept busy!

En route to Florida, we stopped through Nashville and saw our son, Donovan. We hadn't seen him since May so that was a very special treat. We sure miss him! As you know, once the children leave the nest, it is more difficult to stay connected when Larry and I are "on the road" somewhere and they live so far away.

Gloria with Curt & Linda Long

Speaking of Nashville, it was a great privilege to see Evangelists Curt and Linda Long (formerly from Sisseton, SD) who are now located in Nashville. We thank God for their faithfulness to ministry all of these many years. Just a side note...Linda and I went to Bible School together a long time ago! Great memories!

Julie - the birthday girl!

Now...back to the cold...on Monday night, November 17th, Larry and I had the privilege to be home to celebrate my mother's 93rd birthday. About 30 of us gathered at Mom's home. I like to refer to it as the "gathering place". We had a pizza, chocolate Julie is 93!cake and ice cream party. Mom LOVES pizza and she LOVES having the family come home. We thank the Lord that she has been blessed with 93 years of life and that she has been a covering of prayer and support to her family of 104 during that time. She prays for each one of us personally every day...it is a gift that means more than words can say! She continues to be the hub of our family and keeps us all going.

It is almost Thanksgiving! I love Thanksgiving! There is no pressure of gift giving and the wonderful holiday highlights the home and family-two things very dear to my heart. Some of my most beloved experiences of Thanksgiving are the smell of turkey baking in the oven, enjoying fresh pumpkin pies, consuming the scrumptious feast, the sounds of children playing, and of course, we can't forget watching the football game! It is all part of Thanksgiving.

But, as much as I enjoy those things mentioned above, Thanksgiving is also a time of reflection of God's faithfulness and goodness to us. It is a time of quiet reflection upon the past and an annual reminder that God has again been ever so faithful.

Lastly, Thanksgiving drips with national nostalgia. This holiday plays a significant role in the history of America as the Pilgrims braved a daunting trip across the sea to this land of unknown opportunities. They left with hopes of religious freedom and making a better life for their families. After a disparaging winter with less than half surviving, they met Squanto who worked with them teaching them how to not only survive but to also prosper from the land. After a bountiful harvest, the Pilgrims and Native Americans came together celebrating all the Lord had done. Thanksgiving finds it roots in a celebration of giving thanks to God. It how signifies a time in which we offer to the Lord renewed thankfulness for so many things we often take for granted: health, life, jobs, strength, comfort, joy and peace....but most of all, we thank God for sending His Son to save us from our sins giving us an eternal future.

This Thanksgiving, take time to thank God for everything we take for granted on a daily basis. As you do this, you will be reminded again of God's love and faithfulness to you!

A Little Humor...

A little girl was sitting on her grandfather's lap as he read her a bedtime story. From time to time, she would take her eyes off the book and reach up to touch his wrinkled cheek. She was alternately stroking her cheek and then his again.

Finally she spoke up, "Grandpa, did God make you?"

"Yes, sweetheart, " he answered. "God made me a long, long time ago."

"Oh," she paused. "Grandpa, did God make me too?"

"Yes, indeed, honey," he said. "God made you just a little while ago."

Feeling their respective faces again, she observed, "God's getting better at it, isn't he?"

A week ago Sunday, we held two morning services at the United Brethren Church in Hillsdale, Michigan, with Pastor Les Smith. What an energetic pastor with a vision for souls! He had just hosted the Power Team for the youth a couple weeks ago and they saw over 300 make decisions for Christ. Then, we came and ministered to families. The altar call was precious with the decisions totaling over 40 from people of all ages and walks of life.

Greetings from the rolling hills of Kentucky! The scenery from the trip from Michigan to here was literally like the landscapes shown on postcards...absolutely breathtaking! The trees are still laden with leaves and the fall colors are brilliant to say the least.

Rev. Lester & Linda SmithA week ago Sunday, we held two morning services at the United Brethren Church in Hillsdale, Michigan, with Pastor Les Smith. What an energetic pastor with a vision for souls! He had just hosted the Power Team for the youth a couple weeks ago and they saw over 300 make decisions for Christ. Then, we came and ministered to families. The altar call was precious with the decisions totaling over 40 from people of all ages and walks of life.

After the first service, Ruth, 93 years old, took my hand, smiled gently and told me, "I just had to go up and pray to be sure that I was ready to meet God when I die." How many of you know that when you are 93 years old, you are close to the home office (heaven).

Hillsdale, MI altar callAnother touching testimony was from a lady who was battling cancer who stepped forward to make a decision for Christ. When she responded, several of her adult family members also went forward to receive Christ. That was a tearful and joyous sight! Oftentimes God allows crisis to enter our life that we may draw closer to Him. I love His promises when He says, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."

From Hillsdale, Michigan, we journeyed on to LaGrange, Kentucky, which is located about 30 miles from Louisville, KY. Of course, Louisville, is the birthplace and home of Colonel Sanders and thus Kentucky Fried Chicken. Every time we drive through Louisville, I am reminded of when we were traveling with Lowell and Connie Lundstrom in the late 60's, early 70's. We sang and ministered at a large Assembly of God church in Louisville. It happened to be the one that Colonel Sanders attended at the time. On that particular Sunday morning, little LaShawn and I walked into the foyer and there sat Colonel Sanders in a chair with his white hair, white beard, twinkle in his eye and a cane in his hand. He greeted us, spontaneously scooped up our daughter, giving her an enthusiastic hug before setting her down again. Ecstatically she ran back to me and chirped, "Mom, he's Santa Claus!" Colonel Sanders giggled which caused his big belly to shake like Jello making one wonder....HA!

Anyway...we'll return now from memory lane to Kentucky currently. We were so delighted to be ministering once again at LaGrange Assembly of God. The last time we had the privilege of being there was in 2003. Since that time, they have added a beautiful sanctuary. It was such a Rev. Barry & Mary Ann Broylesjoy to renew friendships with Pastor Barry Broyles and his wife, Mary Ann.

We love joining along with tender-hearted pastors like Pastor Broyles and Pastor Smith to reach people for Christ. We have found it true after our many years of traveling and ministering in churches all across the nation that if you have a loving pastor, you often have a loving congregation. This is certainly true of Hillsdale, MI, and LaGrange, KY.

Pastor Broyles had many young families attend the morning service. When we gave the invitation to accept Christ, over 30 people responded to make the Lord their Savior, of those many were first time decisions. Pastor Broyles shared the following with us:

"It was great having Larry and Gloria Lundstrom with us Sunday morning, November 2, 2008. The people were blessed as Larry and Gloria ministered in song and Word.  During the altar call, 5 responded for salvation and 23 recommitted their lives to the Lord!LaGrange, KY altar call

I would wholeheartedly recommend the Lundstroms to any church that desires to see the lost saved and the church revived."

In His Service,

Pastor Barry Broyles

LaGrange Assembly of God

This morning when Larry and I stepped out of the motor home, a flock of geese were flying overhead. Larry's attention instantly was captured by the honking geese. He used to love to hunt. In Matthew 6, Jesus used an illustration with birds, "Do not worry about your life..look at the birds of the air." There are interesting lessons we can learn from birds, even geese.

Fact 1: As each goose flaps its wings, it creates uplift for the bird that follows it. By flying in a "V" formation, the entire flock adds 71% greater flying range than if each bird flew alone.

Lesson 1: People who share an interest or common direction can get where they are going quicker and easier because they are traveling with the help of one another. That is what the church is all about.

Fact 2: When a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of flying alone. It quickly moves back into formation to take advantage of the lifting power of the bird immediately in front of it. Get the point!

Lesson 2: Stay in formation. If you feel like you are falling out of relationship with God or falling out of the church, get back in quickly! You need the encouragement and fellowship of the believers.

Fact 3: The geese flying in formation honk to encourage those up front to keep up their speed and to communicate to them that they are behind them. Let's be like the geese and encourage those ahead of us.

Lesson 3: When we come to church and hear the Word of God preached, we are strengthened in our faith and daily lives. Like one pastor said, "Make sure our honking is encouraging and not critical or negative." Ooooo...that's a sermon all its own.

Yes, there is a lot we can learn from the birds in the air. Let's get in formation, move forward and encourage others along the way.

P.S. Election Day has come and gone. We pray that each of you made your voice heard exercising the treasured freedom we have in the United States of America to vote for our leaders. We also have a directive from our Lord to pray for our those in authority found in 1 Timothy 2:1-4, "I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone, for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth."

Recently, we were sent this e-mail and I thought it was a great reminder for us regardless of who stands in the White House...

TEN PREDICTIONS NO MATTER WHO WINS THE ELECTION:

1. The Bible will still have all the answers.

2. Prayer will still work.

3. The Holy Spirit will still move.

4. God will still inhabit the praises of His people.

5. There will still be God-anointed preaching.

6. There will still be singing of praise to God.

7. God will still pour out blessings upon His people.

8. There will still be room at the Cross.

9. Jesus will still love you.

10. Jesus will still save the lost.

ISN'T IT GREAT TO KNOW WHO IS STILL IN  CONTROL?

Finding one of her students making faces at the others on the playground, Mrs. Smith stopped to gently reprove the child. Smiling sweetly, the Sunday School teacher said, "Bobby, when I was a child, I was told that if I made ugly faces, it would freeze and stay that way."

RECIPE

We love the Cracker Barrel restaurant. Here's a recipe for their scrumptious apples.

Cracker Barrel Fried Apples

2 cups apple juice

4 large golden delicious apples with peel, ½ in wedges

½ cup apple juice

3 Tbsp cornstarch

1 tsp apple pie spice

4 tsp sugar

Combine 2 cups apple juice and apples in skillet. Simmer gently and turn apples often with spatula until fork tender but not mushy. Remove with a slotted spoon to oven dish. In blender put remaining ingredients and blend a few seconds until smooth. Stir into hot juice in skillet and cook. Stir constantly on medium high until it bubbles and becomes thickened and smooth. Turn off heat and pour over apples. Serve warm as a side dish or dessert.

When you are making hot bread or rolls, by the time that dinner is half way over the rolls are cold.

There is a quick and easy way to help keep them warmer. While your rolls are in the oven, grab some aluminum foil and line your bowl that the rolls will go in. Now just place a cloth napkin over it and no one will notice, but they will notice warmer rolls.

Greetings from the beautiful state of Wisconsin! The moment we arrived in Shell Lake, WI, and opened the doors of the motorhome, I was mesmerized by the towering pines and their fresh aroma. There is something so relaxing about pine trees. I could hear the light breeze softly blowing through them. I inhaled in a deep breath and exclaimed, "Oh, Larry...I love this!"

After the service, a young teenager approached Larry and I and commented, "I really liked you and your husband?s talk. You said it in a language we could understand. Usually most sermons are ?over our heads?. Thanks for talking on our level." We responded, "The Gospel is simple and that is what we are called to do....present the simple plan of salvation so no one can miss it." He grinned and said "Yeah!" in response.Spooner, WI altar call

Interim Pastor Tom Kelby and his wife are doing an exceptional job of ministering and teaching this congregation while the church is on the hunt for a senior pastor. In fact, the church is growing rapidly in numbers during this waiting period. This is not the usual case during times of transition, but it is so wonderful! Pastor Kelby shared these comments with us:

Dear Larry and Gloria,

Thank you for coming to Cornerstone Church. Your love of God's people and of the lost is very evident. The "realness" with which you minister is refreshing. The service was sweet. I haven't been able to talk with all the counselors yet, but it appears many lives were touched through the service. I know there were first time commitments to Christ! Thank you for your humble service to the Lord.

Many blessings,

Virgil & Linda AmundsonFrom Spooner, WI, we drove to the Shell Lake Full Gospel where our good friends and pastors, Vergil and Linda Amundson, have pastored for around 30 years. Each year, their church holds a Missions Conference. Pastor Vergil has been inviting us for the past few years to come and "take in". We finally worked it into our schedule, and we are so glad we did! What a time of refreshing it has been to meet and hear the testimonies of missionaries from literally all over the world. The speakers have been exceptional and we have been fed a spiritual buffet the last few days. We were encouraged to: Follow our calling, Dig deep into our prayer life and the Word, Know who we are in Christ...His righteousness, and basically, Never give up what God has called us to do...reach the Lost. Missionaries at Shell Lake, WI

Sunday night, the first night, after Pastor Vergil introduced about 60 missionaries and families, Cindy Mortimer, a missionary from Peru, ran up to us and just bubbled, "I heard you were here and I just had to meet you. When I was about seven years old, I gave my heart to Christ in a Lundstrom rally when you all John & Cindy Mortimertraveled together. That moment set in motion God?s call on my life to be a missionary along with my husband, John, and our three children, Melissa, Shanda, and Vince. We Gloria with Cindy Mortimerminister in the jungles of Peru. It is really, really difficult but God is blessing and it is so rewarding."

Her testimony was like a blood transfusion for me. We left last weekend on this tour completely exhausted; therefore, I really needed that encouragement.

On Tuesday, Larry attended a Men?s Luncheon and I attended a Women?s Luncheon. Larry thoroughly enjoyed steak menu!  Several Steaks at the Men's Luncheon!came up to each of us and shared how our "Family to Family" ministry had touched their lives throughout the years. It was like God was shouting to me, "Gloria, no matter how tired you are or how hard it has been, it is worth it even if it was just for those you met today." After having been on such a wild schedule for the last few months, this convention was like a well of water to our spirits.

On the lighter side...have you ever been so tired you just wanted to run away, but you don?t know where to go? And, if you wanted to go, you couldn?t afford it anyway? And, if you could afford it, who would want to put up with you? HA!

I?ve had many a day like that throughout the years. One of those was actually just a few days ago. I was so tired. I just wanted to go anywhere and hide from the telephone, cell phone, computer, office work and even people...just for a few hours! Well, in the midst of this stressful day, with everything seemingly falling apart and feeling pressured from being on a tight schedule, we had to find a car wash as our suburban was filthy with dirt. Needless to say, finding a car wash isn?t always an easy chore. Finally, we found one! Larry put in the coins and slowly began to enter the car wash while I was in the middle of a business call on my cell phone.

WHOOOSH! The water began flying, the big mops hit the side of the suburban, soap and foam flew everywhere and literally camouflaged us. The roar of the machines drowned out my conversation on the phone. I hollered into the phone, "I will have to call you back. I?m in a car wash!" They couldn?t hear me so I just turned my phone off. I fussed, "Oh, for heaven?s sake, now I lost the connection on the phone."

The machine, water, soap, and foam continued to fly and roar as we continued our way through the car wash. I then burst out in laughter and said, "Larry!" He just gave me that "Oh-oh..she?s losing it look". I hollered, "You know what...I actually like this place. I have found a new hideaway where no one can find me or contact me." He burst out in laughter too. Oh how we both needed that moment!

Just as I wanted to run away...God wants us to run as much to spend intimate (quiet) uninterrupted time in His presence. Psalm 46:10 instructs, "Be still and know that I am God." In this busy, good, crazy, wonderful, frantic world, He calls us to slip away and to be still so He can minister to our hearts.

How about you? Do you need or desire it? Seek it out. He will meet you there!

Gloria

Rev. Darrell & Karen Losing

Two weeks ago, we held a service in Jamestown, ND.  It was a pleasure being with Pastor Darrell and Karen Losing once again.  God blessed and we had a precious altar call.  We never tire of seeing lives changed!  Pastor Losing shared the following regarding the service:

"Larry and Gloria were here at First Assembly Sunday morning, September 21st. We had a good crowd. The people really enjoyed the music and several responded ato the altar call including four first time decisions. You are wonderful people!"

Altar call in Jamestown, ND

After Jamestown, we scurried back to Sisseton to begin the process of moving our office to another building one block away. (It could have just as well been a thousand miles away!  HA!)  Sounds easy, huh?!  Reality hit and we saw the enormity of our task when Barb & Tricia organizing boxeswe began sifting, sorting and purging through 23 years of ministry and personal items: stock, office equipment, archives, files, photos and the list goes on and on.  Before we had arrived home, our efficient office girls; Marne, Tricia and Barb had already done a great job of moving computers, desks, printers, and essential paperwork to the new location in order to get the office up and running again as smoothly and quickly as possible.  It was then our turn to filter through what was left...old road equipment, electrical and Larry & Marne moving boxessound gear, and cases and cases of everything.  We huffed and puffed moving things for eight days.  When we finally completed our task, what a great feeling it was knowing we had gone through everything!  Larry and I definitely exercised muscles we didn't know we had from all the hauling!  I certainly wouldn't want to attempt that task being any older than we are.  Now, we are all moved and settled in preparing for a moving sale later this week.

Rev. Chris Johnson & Larry

Also as we were home, we traveled out from Sisseton to our  rallies.  Our next rally took place in Kulm, ND, with Pastor Chris Johnson.  Kulm is located in the heart of German, Swedish and Norwegian settled areas in North Dakota.  Pastor Chris and his wife are a zealous couple for God and are doing a great job of pastoring their congregation.  Many responded to the altar call and among them were several teenagers.  It is always touching to see young people desiring to draw closer to God.

"No matter how old you are or the number of years in Ministry, when you sow your heart into 'Lost Souls,' this is what you will reap; Larry and Gloria have done, and continue to do this!  Through the gateway of song and scripture; adults, kids, and teenagers responded to the timeless Altar call at Kulm, NDmessage of Jesus Christ.  Thank you Larry & Gloria and may God continue to richly favor the ministry He has given to you."

The following weekend we ministered in Mora, MN.  On our way to Mora, we were excited to be able to attend our grandson, Dante's, homecoming at Rosemount High Dante with his drumsSchool.  He plays tenor drums in the Rosemount High School Band.  They have been in several competitions Enjoying the football game with Myanna!and they are the number one rated band and drumline in the state of Minnesota.

It was fun seeing the Rosemount Irish win the football game that night, and squeeze in some quality time with family.LaDawn & Myanna

We arrived in Mora on Saturday afternoon.  Guess we must be getting really old as we were still exhausted from the move, etc.  We set up our equipment at the church and hustled over to the motel.  I was spiritually hungry and began to read my Bible, but my mind and body were not responding.  I told Larry that I must make some in-room coffee.  I proceeded to put water in the coffee maker and started to rip the corner of the coffee packet when my eyes fell on the following words on the package, "Open for a better day."  I chuckled and thought to myself, "What a great line!"  I told Larry that would be a great line to print on every Bible!  It is a simple but essential truth.  If we challenge ourselves to open the Word of God every day, we would have better days.

God's Word is not just our survival kit, but it is our spiritual multi-vitamin to give us extra strength, zeal and encouragement.  I am so thankful that God brings these elementary yet vital concepts before me constantly challenging me in my walk with Him.  By the way, after my cup of strong coffee, I woke up, got into the Word and what a feast I had.

We were ready and excited for our service in Mora the next morning.  We ministered at Mora Assembly of God and we were thrilled as thirty-one responded to the altar call that morning.  We were so excited to see many prodigals recommit their lives to Christ including several teenagers and young couples.

Well, have a great month and remember that God loves you and His Word is a lamp unto your feet and a light unto your path in these troubled days...so dig in!

"Ay run across dis olt family Bible up dere.  It vas in pretty tacky shape so ay t'rew it away and bought a new vone."

"That might have been a mistake," I told him.  "Some of those old Bibles are worth a lot of money."

"Not dis vone.  It vasn't even printed by a vell-known printer such as Olson, Yohnson, or Svenson.  Dis vone was made up by somevun name Guten....somet'ing or odder."

"Not Gutenberg?" I asked.

"Yah, dat's the guy," Ole said.

"Ole," I exclaimed.  "Do you realize that you have thrown away one of the first books ever printed?  It's worth a fortune.  You could have got close to a half million bucks for that Bible at an auction."

"Not for dat vone yew vouldn't." Ole snorted. "It vasn't vort' a dime.  Some yoker name of Martin Lut'er had scribbled all over it."

HOUSEHOLD HINT

A few days ago as we were driving down the road drinking my cup of coffee, Larry had to make a quick stop, consequently my coffee spilled on my white blouse.  I was a bit distraught as we were out in the middle of nowhere and I didn't have anything in the car to clean it.

I was trying to think of anything that could possibly clean the spill on my blouse, I realized I had some anti-bacterial gel in my purse.  I saturated the stains with the gel and to my pleasant surprise the stain were removed.  Hopefully it will work for you as well!

There is an old song that says "I've been everywhere, yes, I've been everywhere, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Kansas, etc." That is the way I feel at this point. In the past two weeks we have cris-crossed the prairie lands of South Dakota twice. After the Seniors' Retreat in the Black Hills, we dashed back to Sisseton to pick up our guests for the Fun and Fellowship tour to the National Quartet Convention and headed off to the hills of Kentucky.

Our wonderful tour-goers for the National Quartet Convention!

En route we saw many sights and tourist areas. On Thursday, September 11th, we pulled into Louisville, KY, filled with great anticipation for the National Quartet Convention. We were not disappointed! Not only were we entertained, butOne of the many quartets that blessed us! we were deeply ministered unto by the Gold City Quartet, Legacy 5, Signature Sound, Gaither Quartet, Hoppers, Florida Boys, Kingsmen, Greater Vision, Pfeifers, and the award winning Booth Brothers. There were dozens and dozens of other groups that sang also from morning all the way to midnight. For all of our Southern Gospel lovers, they Another of the wonderful quartets!were definitely filled to the brim with good music!

God blessed Larry and I with a great group of friends to join us on this years Fun and Fellowship tour. Our next tour, Lord willing, will be a Christmas In Branson tour in December of 2009. We would love to have you join us!

After an action-packed seven day tour, we darted back to Sisseton to repack for our next venture. On Wednesday, September 17, we departed once again crossing the state to Eagle Butte which is located on the Cheyenne River Reservation.

Larry, Gloria, Melena Dugan, Mel and Corliss EricksonOur Mission: Cheyenne River Outreach, a two-day food and clothing distribution to be held on the local pow-wow grounds where we would also share the simple Gospel message meeting both physical and spiritual needs.

We joined with Missionaries, Mel and Corliss Erickson, from North Dakota who spearheaded this outreach with us. We were honored to also partner with Melena Dugan of Operation Outreach located in Ohio and Convoy of Hope from Springfield, Missouri. We had two semi-trucks filled with food and clothing to distribute. We began the venture with setting up two tents, laying out massive lines of tables for the distribution and organizing thousands of articles of clothing. When all was said andOne of the many precious altar calls! done, according to Craig Chadwick from Operation Outreach, we distributed 71,000 pounds of food which would feed 3,500 families. Before the food distribution, we sang and ministered under the tent about every hour and a half sharing the simple Gospel message and providing an opportunity for people to accept Christ through an altar call. The last estimFood packaged...ready for distributionate we received was that approximately 300-400 people received Christ. There was also much one-on-one witnessing, counseling and ministry taking place all over the grounds. Several bible study groups are being implemented in four communities to assist with the follow-up of these precious new believers.

Addie Morris, pastor of Church of God in Eagle Butte, SDAddie, the pastor of the Church of God in Eagle Butte, headed up the kitchen and feeding effort. On Friday, a free lunch was served to the gathering. We were thrilled to be joined by so many Native Americans joyously and enthusiastically helping out in all areas of the outreach helping their community. We were also delighted to have many of the clergy from the surrounding areas assist in the event in whatever way they could. Harold, Rita and Joel Sporrer....wonderful servants of God!

Harold and Rita Sporrer, along with their son, Joel, drove in from Manning, Iowa, to help unload the semis and distribute items.  We are thankful for their hearts to serve.  We were blessed to have them there!

We were especially blessed to have seventeen students from Trinity Bible College in Ellendale, ND, along with their instructor Chuck The students from Trinity Bible College...they did such a wonderful job!Vanasse help with the counseling throughout the outreach. They did an outstanding job! Not only did they do counseling, but they helped set up the tents and inflatable activities for children, bag food, and help with the distribution of the many items. They served in whatever way they could also assisting in tearing everything down and clearing the grounds when the event was finished. Thank you!

Operation Outreach Director, Melena Dugan, and Operation Outreach Director/Driver, Craig Chadwick, said, "We have worked these events for over ten years. We have often had college students work with us, but this was by far the best group of students. We have never had harder workers as they were. There wasn't anything they wouldn't do or couldn't do, and they jumped right in to complete the task at hand." What a compliment to Chuck, his team and Trinity Bible College!

About a year ago, God gave Larry and I a vision to do this outreach to those in need in our home state. The event and response was truly overwhelming! Please pray for all of those who made commitments that they will get plugged into the Bible studies and they will continue to grow and reach their peers for Christ. The tears of repenRed Cloud was a hit with the youth!tance and the smiles on their faces after they prayed made all the effort worth it!

We thank Melinda from Operation Outreach along with recording artist, Red Cloud, who ministered to the youth. Also, we extend a special thanks to Mel Erickson of Dakota Missionary Evangelism who led the outreach and mentored us in this new venture. Mel is one of the hardest working missionaries we have met. He and his wife, Corliss, have an unwavering burden to help Native Americans.

Invitations are already coming in to return to the reservations in South Dakota to conduct soulwinning rallies. Tentatively, we are scheduled to go to Mission, South Dakota, in July of 2009 for a large soulwinning event that usually draws 2,000-3,000 people. We are looking forward to it!

As you can tell by all of the above, it has been a wonderful and exciting month. May you be blessed and have a great couple weeks until we talk again!

Gloria

P.S. OOPS! In all The Sisseton group that attended the Seniors Retreat.the craziness of the past couple weeks, we had intended to put a picture of those from our hometown of Sisseton that attended the Senior's Retreat in the Black Hills last time, but it was missed. Thank you for coming all that way. We so enjoyed our time together!

The Picnic

A Jewish Rabbi and a Catholic Priest met at the town's annual 4th of July picnic. Old friends, they began their usual banter.

'This baked ham is really delicious,' the priest teased the rabbi. 'You really ought to try it. I know it's against your religion, but I can't understand why such a wonderful food should be forbidden! You don't know what you're missing. You just haven't lived until you've tried Mrs. Hall's prized Virginia Baked Ham. Tell me, Rabbi, when are you going to break down and try it?'

The rabbi looked at the priest with a big grin, and said, 'At your wedding.'
