Whew!  We were so excited to be able to take 41 guests along to celebrate on our 50th Anniversary Fun & Fellowship tour to Door County, Mackinac Island and Duluth.   It was truly a marvelous time!

We began the journey in Sisseton, SD, and ended our evening at the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre where we had the delight to see Mary Poppins.  We travelled the next day with some fun stops at the Norske Nook and The House on the Rock before arriving in Milwaukee, WI.  The next morning we had the privilege to be able to attend my brother, Jerry's, church, Oak Creek Assembly of God.    It was so great being there with Jerry and his family.   It was a mini family reunion as our sister-in-law, Janice, joined us on this tour and it was fun to all be together.  We also enjoyed singing our "Traveling Song" that morning and recalling 50 years of memories.

The next few days were filled with lighthouses, a museum, an orchard, carriage rides, beautiful scenery and unique and scrumptious meals.  A definite favorite experience was the Lake Michigan authentic fish boil…..a fun time and scrumptious meal!  The weather was perfect except for one day where it interrupted our plans but we made the best of it and still enjoyed an incredible experience at the Old Rittenhouse Inn.  Our last day ended with a scenic train ride in Duluth, MN, and the boarded the bus winding our way back towards home saying goodbye to our dear friends along the way as they returned to their homes.

All in all, this was just a wonderful tour where we were joined with such precious and dear friends and experienced fun and great memories.  This was truly a marvelous way to celebrate 50 years of marriage and ministry and we will cherish these times!

Speaking of celebrating 50 years, we are excited for this upcoming weekend where we will be ministering at our home church in Sisseton, SD….Family Life Assembly of God, Hwy 10, Sisseton, SD at 10:30 AM.  We will be sharing memories and there will be a meal following in celebration.

We also have a SPECIAL EVENT OF CELEBRATION taking place Saturday, October 3rd in Elk River, MN.  We would love to have you join us and our family for this special 50th Anniversary Celebration!  We will have special times of sharing, music, and lots of laughter.  There will be a light reception following.  If you plan on attending, we would love to hear from you to make sure we have arrangements made correctly!

As always, it was a pleasure hosting you at Aberdeen First Assembly. You are great to work with. Your energy after all of these years is truly inspirational. The response at the altar was great to see. We saw some new faces responding to Christ, some said for the first time. Many recommitments as well. Thanks for continuing to follow God's call on your life, and hitting the road again after 50 years of ministry together! Blessings!

What a perfect August day---about 70 degrees with a slight breeze and the sun shining brightly!

We had an awesome weekend of ministry at the Lake Eunice Evangelical Free Church located in Detroit Lakes, MN.  It was like a homecoming reunion!  Friends drove in from all over the area, both far and near.  We even had guests from South Carolina and Australia!  All of these friends we had met somewhere…sometime!  I really think they came to see if Larry and I were still alive!  HA!

Rev. Dan & Merilee Ottoson

We would like to extend special thanks to our evangelist friends, Dan & Merilee Ottoson, who contacted us months ago inviting us to minister in that area.

He and his wife took the lead and made it happen.

Rev. Dale & Pat Robbins

We were graciously received by Pastor Dale and Pat Robins.  Again, it proves, when people are concerned about the lost and take the opportunity and initiative to plan a rally….it can happen!

We went and God did the rest!  What a precious altar call!

Detroit Lakes, MN altar call

"It was a joy and a privilege to have Larry and Gloria minister in the morning and evening services at Lake Eunice Evangelical Free Church of rural Detroit Lakes, MN recently.  It had been over 18 years since our church had held special evangelistic meetings.  We knew that by inviting the Lundstroms we would be getting a ministry who shared our passion for winning souls to Jesus Christ.  Larry and Gloria's ministry was well-received by our congregation and the many visitors who came from near and far to hear them.  Ministering with refreshing humor, the unmistakable and enjoyable Lundstrom style of music and Larry's simple, but powerful messages, people's hearts were reached with the gospel of Jesus Christ.  There were at least two dozen people, adults and children, who responded to Larry's invitation to either receive or rededicate their lives to Christ.  Along with the angels in glory we were, and are, rejoicing over these wonderful results.  Lives were changed for time and eternity and changed lives change the world!

On a personal note, I have known of the Lundstroms' ministry since I was 14 years old.  After having received Christ as a 15 year old sophomore in high school I would attend the Lundstroms' crusades whenever they came to our area.  Their ministry contributed greatly to my spiritual growth in those early years of my walk with Christ.  Their ministry was also one of the motivating factors God used to birth in me the desire to serve Him in full-time itinerant evangelism, which has now lasted for 36 years!  Thank you, Larry and Gloria, for giving and continuing to give to the Lord.  Well done thou good and faithful servants!"

Danny Ottoson

Associate Pastor

Lake Eunice Evangelical Free Church, Detroit Lakes, MN

**Pastor Danny & Merilee served as Child Evangelists for over 30 years.  What an honor to still be connected with them after all these years!

Another great testimony from the service was from a couple who shared with us that their son went forward in one of our meetings at 12 years of age and died at the young age of 21.  They were so thankful that their son lived his life for God until his very last breath.  That knowledge has been a true comfort to them as they walked through the valley of that experience.

We never get tired or grow accustomed to seeing people respond and come to Christ….whether for a first time commitment or a time of recommitment…it is always a joy!

We have been on the "revolving door" tour schedule since May.  Home and gone…home and gone…home and gone.  Subsequently, my suitcases stay packed as we are always "on call" to make an unscheduled trip for ministry, business, etc.

You and I realize we are definitely living in uncertain dangerous days---and the devil knows his time is short---and is on a rampage to discourage and destroy Christians.  The attack of the enemy is relentless.  The above really hit home as we arrived home to Sisseton after a weekend of services.  We walked to our front door only to realize a mammoth spider had taken residence there spinning a huge web from the house to my flower planter.  This same species of spider returns every year….a yellow-bellied bully!  I've tried to get rid of them but they are persistent to keep coming back.

Regardless, a couple days ago, I decided to stage a war against them yet again.  I took a stick to tear up its web and kill it but it evidently saw my approach and escaped by speeding down the wall.  I sighed but continued on my mission to destroy the web.  I smiled.  A few minutes later, I went up to our motorhome for about an hour and a half to work on some inventory.  I returned home only to find that spider had completely woven another huge web.  It sat there in the middle as if to say, "I'm back!  You thought you were rid of me!"  Its ugly determination reminds me of satan's devices.  John 10:10 states, "The thief cometh not but for to steal, and to kill and to destroy."  Like the spider, satan will return when you think you have "whopped" him.  He is relentless and attempts to show up again and again in one situation or another.

As children of God, we must keep our weapons of warfare close by and engaged lest the enemy takes advantage of us.  It is essential to keep in the Word as "It is a lamp unto my feet" (Psalm 119:105) and a guide to advise you.  It is imperative to pray, pray, pray as the Bible instructs "pray without ceasing" (1 Thess. 5:17) as the devil walketh about seeking whom he may devour. (1 Peter 5:8).  It is also critical to keep fellowship with believers as you need the Body of Christ as a support system to encourage you, strengthen you and give you perspective.  I love the verse where the Lord promises that He will never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5)----He didn't say we would have it easy or pain-free but He promises He will walk with us if we stay close with Him!

As I close, we were so thrilled to have our daughter, LaShawn, and her husband, Liam, come Liam & LaShawn with Grandma Juliethrough Sisseton for a day on their business trip enroute to Vancouver, Canada.  They were also so excited to see Grandma Julie Brooks who will turn 100 years old in November.

Until we chat again, may the Lord bless you and keep you and make His face shine upon you!

We hope you keep tuned in to our road schedule and join us for our special 50th marriage and ministry celebration rallies!

What a beautiful day! It's hard to believe it's almost mid-August. This year is flying by. One evening last week Larry and I pulled out of the ministry office early as I insisted we take a short drive to view the beautiful golden wheat fields and to see the harvest machines baling wheat and straw. I was truly memorized by the sights. I just kept saying to Larry, "Thank Jesus, for the bountiful blessings here in the Midwest, when we know so many states are in drought and won't have a wheat crop."  We have been so blessed to see thousands of bales traveling through Nebraska, Minnesota, South Dakota the past couple of weeks.

Of course, every time Larry and I see a harvest machine, we thank God for the harvest field He has called to…to win the Lost and encourage the hurting. As in farming - when the farmers see the wheat is ready to harvest, they don't just sit back and ho-hum and comment on how "lush" it looks…they rush to bring in the bountiful crop before a storm could take it out. Larry and I see and think the same thing. When we have an opportunity to go harvest, we go! In these trying times, people need the Lord. We've been thrilled at the marvelous decisions for Christ this year- what an honor.

Larry and I have been home working in our home office. We needed a quick road break to regroup for our upcoming busy fall schedule. What a delight it is to wake up at home - settle in our favorite chairs for our morning coffee date before the morning winds up! Often, God gives us a treat; like He did yesterday… we looked out the window and saw a mama dear and her two spotted fawns just a few feet from the house (thank God we didn't have a garden it could eat). A few minutes later, up wobbles 7 wild baby turkeys with their ever-watching and protective parents sauntering by.  That gift was our wildlife zoo experience of the day - ha!

We hope you keep tuned in to our road schedule and join us for our special 50th marriage and ministry celebration rallies that will start in just a few short weeks!

Wow! Summer has definitely hit - of course that's what the Midwest is known for. That wonderful heat to make that beautiful corn grow that we so much enjoy! A week ago, we started our mini tour in Platte, South Dakota and so enjoyed observing the fields of the beautiful wheat, and corn and the hillside peppered with thousands of head of cattle. I just kept thanking God for His blessing on this area. We had a wonderful service at Calvary Baptist with Pastor Joel Davis and enjoyed meeting his family!

Pastor Joel and Emily Davis

We were blessed to meet Carla, who was trained to be a counselor many years ago, and volunteered to be a prayer counselor during the altar call at Calvary Baptist.

Carla & Gloria

It was also great to be back with Gene and Faith Van Zee, whom me met and stayed with during a crusade in Platte in the mid 1970s. It was great to reconnect with them and we were overjoyed to know that they are so involved in evangelism at detention centers, prisons, etc.

"We became friends with Larry and Gloria way back in Gene & Faith Van Zeethe mid-70's when both of us had small children.  We were active in the crusade the Lundstrom's had in Platte.  Gene and I were so excited that Larry and Gloria were coming back to Platte for a service July 19th.  It was great to hear them sing the Lundstrom songs again---it brought back so many memories!  As always, Larry presented the Gospel in such a way that everyone could understand it.  It was great to have them stay in our home so we could visit and reminisce about what God is doing in each of our lives.  We are so thankful that they have remained faithful to the calling that God has put on their lives of preaching the Good News to a lost and dying world.  You have touched so many lives and for that we say "THANK YOU!"

Gene & Faith Van Zee

Platte, SD

From Platte, we drove into Nebraska. We were mesmerized by the thousands of bales of hay that glistened in the sun. Especially when we were told that it is so dry in Montana. We are thankful that we will have bales to share with others in need.

We were greeted in Lewellen, Nebraska with such anticipation and excitement at the Tiger Den school auditorium. Wow! God did some really neat things in the lives of those who responded to the altar call. Pastor Maynard commented after the service, "I don't even know how we got ahold of you, or who contacted us, but we sure know WHY you were here after we saw so many go forward to receive Christ." He continued, "There were so many that we thought were born again, but they said that they were good church-going people; but when they prayed, their commitment when from their head to their heart."

Maynard McCarthy & Duane Dunwoody

"It was a great program. I really enjoyed it!" - Gwen

"I enjoyed your singing and program very much. We need more of this kind of service. God bless you." - Helen

"The service brought back many memories. Always a blessing!" - Ginger

"I really enjoyed the entire service. The music was from back in my time. Thank you for coming to our little town." - Beulah

Diane Unterseher and Terry Jessen

We want to thank Diane Unterseher and Terry Jessen for being instrumental in getting us into the Lewellen High School. Again it goes to prove that if someone really cares, they can get an event going and see the Lost won to Christ.

Thanks Diane and Terry!

From Nebraska we headed back into the badlands of South Dakota. There were a lot of long, hot miles in between Lewellen and Kadoka, SD!

The ride was so beautiful, but so hot on the way to Kadoka where we were again greeted by precious pastor and wife, Gary and Ruth McCubbin. We met him a couple of years ago while ministering in Midland, SD and he said if you ever get into our area, come to our Presbyterian church - we'd love to have an outreach to the lost and hurting.

Pastor Gary & Ruth McCubbin"We appreciated the Lundstrom's uplifting music and their message of the truth of the Gospel.  They truly have a great desire to see those who are lost be transformed by the Good News of Jesus Christ.   They have a servant's heart to serve the Lord and the local church."

After the altar call on Sunday morning, one precious lady walked up to me and said, "We loved the service this morning and the simple message. Just seeing people come to Christ, we realize what we've been missing. It was wonderful."

Landon Stout & his darling children

We love having families with little children join us for our services!

Youth Works group

"We really enjoyed this service today!" was what we heard from this group from Youth Works that were helping out in the Kadoka area.

Gene & Faith Van Zee's dog

We will be heading back to the Sisseton area for a couple of weeks and catching up on office work, etc. Yes... we often get "dog tired", too!

We pray that you'll have a wonderful rest of July and you'd sense and feel the presence of God ever near to you.

If you are in Minnesota plan to join us on Sunday, August 23rd in Detroit Lakes at Lake Eunice Evangelical Church for a 10:00 am service and 7:00 pm service. We will also be in Aberdeen, SD on Sunday, August 30th for a 10:30 am service at First Assembly of God. Have a great couple of weeks!

Just goes to show - you just never know how you will be blessed!

"Today at 7AM, I woke up feeling ill, but decided I needed the money, so I went into work.   At 3PM I got laid off. On my drive home I got a flat tire. Greetings from Sisseton! What an exciting weekend! We were privileged to come back home where our family hosted a surprise, early birthday party for my mother who will be 100 in November (too difficult to get family together in unpredictable Midwest weather in November). It was so much fun to be with my 9 brothers, their mates, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren. There were over 100 of our immediate family there (chuckle).  I am posting a couple of pictures that looks like a church Sunday School photo. She was totally surprised and we had a program and dinner, humorous skits and stories, etc. What a great time of incredible memories! It was wonderful to be able to celebrate her life with her there (versus coming together for a homegoing), she enjoyed every minute of it. What a milestone!

Larry and Pastor Galen Skinner

You've heard of the term "a diamond in the desert"? That's exactly what we experienced when we were invited to the little thumbprint community in Goehner, Nebraska.

The meeting was packed with excitement and wonderful people expecting something from the Lord. Many made decisions for Christ and life changes in that service! It was great to meet Pastor Galen Skinner, who so graciously hosted us. It was truly an exciting event during the Fourth of July weekend!

Altar call at Goehner, NE

We are preparing to leave for a tour out in western South Dakota and looking forward to great altar calls and seeing lives changed! I am sure we will experience the prairie land heat wave that is coming through.  Try to keep cool and have a wonderful week! Please continue to remember us in prayer for safety and health. Blessings to you!

"What greater blessing to give thanks for at a family gathering than the family and the gathering."

- Robert Brault

{Chuckle/Reflection}

Hanging up the phone with my 90-year-old mother, I sighed, then said to ?my 96-year-old uncle, "She's so ?stubborn."

He shook his head sympathetically and warned, "You're going to have trouble with her when she gets old."

{Recipe}

Salad Sandwich

½ tsp. mayonnaise

6 cucumber slices

¼ firm tomato

¼ onion

¼ green pepper, sliced

Lettuce leaves

3 mushrooms, thinly sliced

1/8 large apple

1 kosher dill pickle

2 slices thin sliced bread

Mix all above ingredients (except bread) and make your own fresh summery sandwich!

{Household Hint}

Use the right tools for the job: Microfiber cloths are great for most jobs, but some tasks require a specialist. Try a damp pet sponge to quickly remove pet hair from upholstery and pillows. A dry sponge erases grime from acoustical tiles. Wear cotton gloves and clean mini-blinds by hand.

Greetings from the road!  With Independence day approaching, there is much talk of freedom - but there is truly nothing that compares to the Freedom that we find in Christ. What a privilege and honor it is to live in America and enjoy liberty because of the sacrifice of many. Even so, to us, there is nothing like the privilege to partner with God to bring His freedom and the truth of His sacrifice to others. While our bodies may tire from the miles, our hearts and spirits are continually renewed from seeing people's eyes opened, lives changed and destinies set free!...

May you enjoy your holiday weekend with family and friends - celebrating the freedom that is found in our nation, as well as in our God!

Lest we forget...Let us be reminded

One of my favorite things about America is its rich history…the bravery, the courage, the trust in God, the wisdom, the risk, the values. When you read or hear about the birthing of our great nation, you cannot deny the Christian principles upon which it was founded. The evidence is all around us. America was intended to be a Nation that, while offering freedom to worship how one pleases, glorifies God, the Maker of Heaven and Earth. Here are just a few of the inscriptions that are etched into the history of our nation:

The Capitol Building:

In the House chamber resides the following inscription: "In God We Trust."

In the Senate chamber are the words Annuit Coeptis, Latin for, "He has favored our undertakings." In the entrance to this chamber is the declaration, "In God We Trust." In the Rotunda, there are various paintings. One of the paintings shows the open Bible with the words, "the New Testament according to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ," and "God with us" is inscribed in the painting as well.

In the Capitol Chapel is a stain glassed window with these powerful words etched, "This Nation Under God" and "Preserve me, God, for in Thee do I put my trust." (Psalm 16:1)

The Washington Monument:

Engraved on the aluminum capstone is Laus Deo, "Praise be to God."

Lining the walls of the stairwell are blocks carved with phrases like "Holiness to the Lord,"

"Search the Scriptures," and "Train up a child in the way he should go."

The Jefferson Memorial:

A quote around the interior dome says, "I have sworn upon the altar of God, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the minds of man."

One panel reads, "God who gave us life gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that His justice cannot sleep forever."

The Lincoln Memorial:

To the right of the magnificent statue of Abraham Lincoln is his second inaugural address, which mentions God 14 times and quotes the Bible twice.

On President Lincoln's left is the Gettysburg Address which states, "We here highly resolved that these dead shall not have died in vain, that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom."

These inscriptions to me are like the altars of our time.

The Israelites were very familiar with altars. Altars were built as a monument to remember or commemorate a divine experience as well to symbolize communion with the Lord. They were places to call upon the name of Lord and to remember His glorious promises. As generations would grow up, the altars would still stand, as reminders of what God had done so the goodness of God could be passed down from generation to generation that not one generation would forget what He has done.

As we revisit these monuments, memorials, buildings, documents, may they stir within us a passion to remember what God has done…to remember not only the sacrifice of His Son so we may live but to remember the sacrifices of those who have given (and continue to give) so much so we could experience liberty…to remember the principals the Nation was founded on and the values upon which each stone was laid…to remember to pray for those in authority and positions of influence that they would make decisions that are congruent with the Godly heritage of our Nation…to remember because of our God, there is always hope no matter how dark it appears.

And lastly, God please help us to remember You in all things and let us not lose our declaration of You!

God bless America!

Greetings from home!  We pray that you have had a marvelous Father's Day!  We, of course, greatly miss being with our kids on these heartwarming holidays but we are so thankful that we are able to stay in contact often and cherish our phone chats!

We wanted to take a few moments and share some thoughts with you on Father's Day....enjoy!

Father's Day---

This is my 47th year to celebrate being a father.

I recall the birth of our firstborn, LaShawn, when they brought her into the room and placed her in my arms.  It was so awesome.  I truly saw God's miracle of a new birth.

October 27, 1967---that momentous moment---I will never forget!  I stood awestruck trying to grasp that this was really real.  I carefully unwrapped her little pink blanket, reached out for her little tiny hands.  They were so perfect and still wrinkled from being stuffed in her mommy's tummy for nine months.  Next, I giggled as I saw those perfect little pink feet.  Yes, I counted the toes to be sure there were ten---no less and no more.  I gingerly picked her up and placed her beautiful little face up to my warm cheek.  She squirmed a bit and nestled right into my neck, and of course, I melted.

Three days later, the nurse brought our new little bundle, LaShawn, all wrapped up again in a pink little blanket, places her in my arms announcing, "Here she is….she's yours!"  The nurse smiled and wheeled us out to the car.  Those parting words on our new journey to parenthood "She's yours!" hit me like cement.  It was as if someone has placed a fragile little egg in my hand.  The responsibility of this new baby, our child, my daughter, and an eternal being literally overwhelmed me.  To be honest, I was scared and a nervous wreck!

I was fearful I would drop her.  I didn't know what to do if she cried.  Was she hurting, hungry, needing a clean diaper, too hot, too cold…what was I to do?  I did the right thing…I panicked, "Honey, take her!" (Easy way out…HA!)

Now, fast forward  and here we are 47 years later, I still carry concern about our children {LaShawn, LaDawn, Donovan} even though they are adults as well as our grandchildren {Dante' and Myanna}.  Are they safe?  Are they making right decisions?  Are they physically and emotionally healthy?  Will they be financially secure?

I don't think I am the only one who thinks that way.  I put that in the category of being a loving father!  The ultimate Father's love is the love of the Heavenly Father.  Can you imagine how He feels when He looks at all of His children?  What is He thinking as He watches us father our children?  No matter how old we get, we are never far from His care.

"The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged." Deuteronomy 31:8.

Clarence Kelland said, "My father didn't tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it."  I often wonder what the characteristics are that my children learn from me.  Life and legacy will tell that story.  I know I am not the perfect father; I have failed, but I pray that my family will always have a relationship with the Heavenly Father who will always lead them and guide them in truth, never leaving them nor forsaking them.  My prayer continues to be that we will be family for all eternity.

"Behold, children are a gift of the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward." Psalm 127:3

Whew! We've been coming and going…going and coming…so I hardly know if I'm coming or going - ha!

We had an awesome time of ministry on Sunday, May 31st in Robbinsdale, Minnesota at the Olivet United Methodist Church with Pastor Randy Taber. He has such a heart to reach the lost and hurting.  We had a sweet group of friends and guests join us for that morning, and the most precious part of the service was the altar call, of course. There was no hesitation as people flowed up to the altar to pray the salvation prayer. Tears of joy and freedom truly made it a memorable day.

Altar call in Robbinsdale, MN

"I was so blessed to attend your service at Mt.Olivet United Methodist Church in Robbinsdale,MN on Sunday May 31. Larry and Gloria your music always inspires me. The presence of the Holy Spirit is evident when you sing.

Gloria & Bonnie Rance

Larry, you always present God's Word in a way that wants everyone to become a follower of Jesus.
Jesus's commission before He left the earth, calling us to preach the Gospel and make disciples of all nations and as you obeyed the moving of the Holy Spirit, you called anyone desiring to become a follower of Christ or rededicate their life to Christ, to come forward to the altar. I watched as 27 people stepped out and met you there.

I could not help but rejoice with the angels in heaven to see so many names added to the Lambs Book of Life. The parable of The Ninety and Nine reminds me of the Lord's priority and I know that this has always been the priority of the Lundstrom Ministries. May the Lord continue to bless your ministry as you serve the Lord, ministering to the lost and dying."

Your Friend in Christ,

Bonnie Rance

"We thoroughly enjoyed having Larry and Gloria back at Olivet. Many decisions were made to rededicate lives to Crhist. We are blessed in having a chance to win souls for Christ."

After Robbinsdale we raced back to Sisseton for a couple days in the office and last weekend we ministered and sang at the Faith, Fun, Food and Fellowship Sunday service at the Wilmot Lutheran Church in Wilmot, SD to be with Pastor Sheila Pohl. Again, we rejoiced at all those who prayed a prayer to come to Christ or to reconfirm their faith. (Oh, and did I say that it was a delicious potluck dinner that the church made…oh yes!)

Pastor Sheila brought us into Larry's hometown of Peever, SD last September, and now she brought us in to this parish in Wilmot - exciting and fun!

Jerry Niles

Jerry is a classmate of Larry's from High School - wow, way back!

Here's what he shared, "Larry, I just want to let you know that in high school your Christian life and walk made a huge impression on my life. I am so glad to see that you are still doing what you're doing."

"It was wonderful having Larry and Gloria at Wilmot Lutheran on June 7th. Their positive and upbeat message of the Gospel through music and message is needed and desired in today's world. I am rejoicing over all of those who prayed the Salvation prayer. That's what it's all about! Thank you Larry and Gloria for your faithfulness to your calling."

On the lighter side - when we came home a few weeks ago, I definitely wanted to have something living, besides mold (ha!), so I quickly threw in a few flowers in my narrow flower box that is about 20 feet long and 2 feet wide. We left for rallies, came back, left for rallies, came back, and I saw this green plant coming up that I didn't plant. I was so excited thinking, "wow, with the prices of flowers, a bird must have dropped a seed, it's green and it's growing. I can't wait to see what blossoms." Well for the following three weeks, each time we've come back, it's grown taller. Two days ago when we came home, this green thing is bushy and over four foot high with no blossoms.

By now you know I am totally illiterate when it comes to plants and flowers. With that, I grabbed a lifeline and texted my sister-in-law, Janice, who knows every tree, flower, weed, etc. I sent over a photo and said, "I have some trivia for you - what is this? Is it a flower plant?" She texted back, "Looks like a weed!"  My heart sank and she continued, "I'd get rid of it."  Very disappointed I went out last night and looked at this big bushy green plant (so I thought) and figured I'd jerk it out of the dirt. But it is so big and is rooted underneath some decorative blocks, so I can't pull it out. I guess I know what I will be doing tonight. I will have to cut it down and use weed killer.

Thinking about that this morning, I saw the parallel in how some temptations look innocent, enticing, pretty and intriguing. We often allow these little sins of hate, jealousy, bitterness and anger grow up and bush out in our lives, until they eat up the good space in our hearts. If not tended to, it keeps growing and snuffs out the seeds of love, joy, peace, gentleness, goodness and kindness, etc. in our lives.  But…the good news is…we can always start over. 1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." If we ask God to prune us, and forgive us, we can allow the blossoms and fragrance of Jesus Christ to pour forth out of our lives. I pray that the green weed will consistently remind me to keep my life clean and not let sins take root.

Well, when it cools off tonight, I will have to talk Larry into coming out to help me dig out that big weed so the other flowers can blossom as they were intended to. Have a great week!

The Best Sermons Are Lived Not Preached

- Today, I interviewed my grandmother for part of a research paper I'm working on for my Psychology class.  When I asked her to define success in her own words, she said, "Success is when you look back at your life and the memories make you smile."

- Today, I asked my mentor - a very successful business man in his 70s-what his top 3 tips are for success.  He smiled and said, "Read something no one else is reading, think something no one else is thinking, and do something no one else is doing."

{Recipe}

Apricot Gelatin

2 small pkgs. Apricot gelatin

1 (12 oz.) can apricot nectar

1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese (soft)

1 small can crushed pineapple, well drained

1 cup chopped nuts

1 (9 oz.) Cool Whip

Heat nectar to boiling.  Pour over gelatin and dissolve. Chill to thickened stage. Add cream cheese, pineapple, and nuts. Fold in Cool Whip.

{Household Hint}

Remove Food Odors: When plastic storage containers start to smell like the food that was in them, wash them with hot water and two tablespoons of baking soda.
